It's ok, it's definitely complex so I shouldn't have jumped to that conclusion based on a post where it isn't as though it was intended to be really extensive commentary, and when I know your heart's in the right place.

i love both but booze definitely does more harm to society then weed and its not even close. making people wait till 21 instead of 18 to buy doesnt do shit to reduce that either tbh

I drank more alcohol in the four years before I turned 21, then I did in the four years after turning 21.

Haven't had a drink in 5 years. I miss it sometimes, but I don't miss feeling awful the next day.

Alcohol is way worse in terms of health than weed. I don't think anyone is debating that.

Legalize sports gambling like in the UK, and if a city decides it wants a casino, great, build a casino.

Legalize weed everywhere and look at laws surrounding all recreational drugs. I'm not well versed enough to say what should be done with those. I do know that in my state, the tiniest amount of the booger sugar on you will fuck you for life which seems stupid to me, but again, not well versed.

But let me gamble with strangers in a swanky establishment while being served free drinks without flying across the country to do it.

Use of all drugs should be decriminalized. We shouldn't be turning addicts into convicts.

Alcohol, in moderation, is the best anti-anxiety medication I've ever had. For me, it's far more effective than Klonopin. I don't drink every day, but a couple drinks whenever I'm feeling anxious provides near instant relief.

I can't get a handle on weed. It makes me insane with anxiety, even in the smallest of doses.

Yeah I tend to agree with this take. China is doing way too much tbh (or, at least, not doing it well), but I don’t think they’re just winging it here. I think they recognize how much this virus is going to fuck people up the more people get it.

    The problem isn't the Zero-COVID policy, it's China's implementation of a Zero-COVID policy.

Where I was banking wasn't something I really had given much thought to when it came to climate change. I unfortunately bank with one of the largest fossil fuel contributors and will no doubt be closing my account and moving to a more sustainable focused bank like ATMOS or ANDO.

Yeah I've almost called 911 when high because I thought I was having a heart attack but I do like my whisky, even though pretty much all the males in my family are alcoholics.

They were edibles, which is obviously a different sort of high, but still. Not a fun time lol

What's interesting with China's approach is that they let the various parts of the country handle it their own way for this wave of the pandemic. The reason why Shanghai has been such a mess is because they took a "we have to deal with it to protect our businesses and economy approach at first" until after a month or so, cases were growing so rapidly that they basically had to do a Wuhan-style lockdown to get it back to zero. Every other place in the country, more or less, maintained the same targeted zero-COVID approach in response to each minor outbreak and have mostly gotten it back to zero (95% of cases there are in Shanghai). In that sense, yeah, they definitely seem to think that zero-COVID is the least disruptive/most humane way of doing things (in the sense that it's likely saved millions of lives in the country, no matter how much you believe China has messed with the numbers, I do agree) and the Shanghai debacle is likely only to reinforce that sentiment that no middle ground is possible
