love the accomplishment for miggy but thats a little fucked up

On the one hand that’s really quite dumb

On the other hand if Pujols gets to 700 HRs somehow we’re stopping the game for two hours I don’t care if it’s late Sept and we’re playing a team tied with us for the division lead lol

 

Have they ever done that for anybody else though?

 

I mean, I understand recognizing and celebrating it immediately afterwards. Feels like that's standard practice whenever some milestone is reached. But how long does a ceremony like that take for Montgomery to have to throw inside? Like, get the hit, have maybe a standing ovation for 30 seconds, maybe a quick highlight reel. But how could it take any longer than, say, a standard challenge where the pitcher just throws a couple warm up tosses from the mound?

Most times something this significant happens the game will stop for a few minutes for applause and teammate recognition and such but i dont think id call anything ive ever seen a “ceremony”.

 

That's my thoughts as well. Like what's the difference here? I remember Beltre getting his and they just did like a highlight reel and standing ovation type thing

 

Yeah I think the longest I've seen is Steph with the 3 point record but in baseball it's just as long as it takes each teammate to congratulate and til the ovations die down. Never seen "sorry guys we're stopping the game" lol

 

i hope they drag out jack white and eminem and do a mini rock concert

 

the Tigers having jack white on retainer would be hilarious but has a feeling of being slightly true

 

Especially since he was replaced by Dave O’Brien who everyone apparently hates working with and he’s boring/bad announcer.

Losing Orsillo was worse for the franchise than trading Mookie.
