    roamer. wanderer. nomad. vagabond.

i watched this in the theaters for a third time last night with a date that had yet to see it, and still: this doesn't feel like a three hour movie. that batmobile car chase is one of the better car chase scenes in cinema. i cold have used a bit more of the riddler, but besides that, it sets a foundation for a new DCEU that could build to something much bigger down the road.

I enjoyed this movie quite a bit, but the last 30-40 minutes seemed really off with the rest of the movie.

The part with the Joker meeting the Riddler was horrible and I'm so glad that deleted scene never made it in.

Also, the Riddler's plan at the end made no sense and came out of nowhere. Him punishing all the people associated with that case was really cool and made a lot of sense, but then suddenly blowing up the vans and flooding the city was so stupid and just felt like they needed a big, spectacular ending for the movie. It fell flat for me and seemed counter to his original plan. I would have liked it if the Riddler was more interspersed throughout instead of just coming up every once in a while.

I think making a story more personal to the city and the public was very interesting and made the city feel more alive than we've seen in other movies and then they ruined it with a generic "let's just blow shit up" type schtick that didn't flow with everything else.

I like that they were doing something more intricate.

I’m going to watch this so much that I’ll be back in my scene phase shouting I’m vengeance

I thought the car chase was the most boring part of the movie, and I loved this movie

I kept thinking about the batbike scene in Dark Knight, on another level

The only part of the movie that I kinda checked out during was the side plot with Bruce finding out what happened with his parents. It didn't really amount to anything other than being a tangential reason for Riddler to target Bruce

Why does a 3 hour movie have to come out on a work night lol. I have shit to do, dammit!

Enjoyed this a bunch. Very similar in vibe to my favourite style of Batman comics.

Slightly annoyed that the Joker laugh is very similar to every damn north inner city Dubliner’s laugh though.

100%. He played the "out of touch with society, shy, but confident as batman" very well.

He's definitely my favorite as well.

Slept on it and revising my take from “enjoyed this a bunch” to fuck I love this film. I need to see it again now knowing Batman’s arc.

not sure what the etiquette on spoilers is now, but I'll mark this just in case.
I can't stop thinking about the scene in arkham with batman and riddler. It was incredibly unnerving, Dano was great in that scene obviously but Pattinson's body language really sold the whole scene. you could see how uncomfortable he was during the first part of the conversation and it fed back to the viewer perfectly. might be my favourite scene in any batman film.

also I was going to write a post saying how the tone was pretty similar to the recent (and brilliant) Batman: The Imposter comic, I've just seen now that the writer of that, Mattson Tomlin, worked on an early version of the script with Reeves. Highly recommend reading that book.

Had fun with this but felt there was plenty they could have cut to make this drag a bit less

Just an FYI: spoiler tags are required for anything that has not been officially released about the movie/tv show/whatever before it’s release. Once it’s officially out, spoiler tags are no longer required. Obviously, you can choose to use tags for as long as you like. But for movies, once Thursday night screening start happening the tags are unnecessary.

I feel like we all stopped using spoiler tags months before release.

I don’t remember. Although now thinking on it, we absolutely have zero fucks about doing it for Morbius. I now recall even saying we should probably be using spoiler tags, but nobody cared for that movie.
