Mike is reaaaal into NFTs and it's pretty offputting

I mean he also released the mix tape on streaming services so…

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

eh the fact that a usually intelligent guy like Mike has bought into this incredibly stupid shit is just dispiriting

Mike's also a huge geek and basically trips all over himself whenever a new tech thing like this comes up. Not surprising at all that he's into NFTs

Yeah he strikes me as exactly the kind of guy who would be into NFTs. Disappointed, but not suprised.

Listening to LP for the first time in awhile, and damn, Minutes to Midnight is still so good. The first half especially. Shadow of the Day sounds amazing on my headphones.

It’s been awhile now. I wonder if the guys plan to do any music together going forward (I’d assume under a different name)

Yeah I'm really hoping they come back in some form eventually.
Would be cool if they did a tour with a bunch of openers, and then for LP's set the openers rotate singing duties.

there is definitely still nave value in the brand 'linkin park'. to start anew would not be financially viable. mike could take over the singing and haver brad or phoenix doin backup vocals or screaming.

Even if they did a show aka kin to what they did for Chester’s death every now and then, that would be awesome (as long as they recorded it).

  11. I wouldn't mind even instrumental stuff from them moving forward. Not unlike the material that could be found on their LP Underground releases. There was some gold in those.

Chesters first band is releasing another album with Chester’s vocals in June

are they old songs with old vocals? I guess the question is where the music comes from and where the vocals come from?

They're essentially remixes of songs they recorded back in the 90s. I'll throw out there though that Grey Daze has been cash-grabby at best and notoriously shitty at worst the last couple of years

They were planning on getting back together before he died and release a album and I think they got permission to release this stuff from his wife. This new album has vocals from his daughter on it

How so? I haven't heard anything and I feel like I keep my ear to the ground pretty well when it comes to this kind of stuff.

Don't really know what to make of any of that, partially since there's not a lot of sources being thrown around and everyone involved isn't really coming off their best.

On the one hand, anyone who personally supports brain filth like MTG is a moron and should be treated appropriately.

On the other hand, Grey Daze the musical project is clearly officially approved by the people it should be, and it's my understanding that this new album is just the remaining tracks that weren't redone for Amends.

It has Chester's family involved and friends of Chester, so nothing about the music side of things feels illegitimate to me, and it feels like a lot of the issues people are bringing up in that thread aren't necessarily music related.

I dunno, that's how I'm choosing to view the situation. It's sad to hear if Sean truly carries shitty views, but I'm interested in this still for Chester-related reasons and that part still feels legit.

Yeah Astat's always had an ego and can be an ass, and the actual music stuff is mostly all above board as far as I know.

I can vouch for pretty much everything in there though (for whatever that's worth). The way the band/Sean have been acting is basically all the discourse surrounding Grey Daze has been about the last couple years

That's a shame to hear, both in how the band is acting, and also in how it's detracting from the really important thing, which is properly celebrating the music that Chester made.

Yeah it really sucks cause it seemed like Chester was excited to do a Grey Daze reunion back in 2017 before his death. Unfortunate that the rest of the band being shitty has put such a stain on that part of his legacy

I'll admit that though the first album seemed like a fair tribute to Chester, the rollout of this second one has definitely been giving me cash-grabby vibes, even before reading the stuff above.

I don't see why it would, if only because the plan as far as I understand it was always to make a second album with the remaining songs. All the songs on this album are the remainders from Wake Me and No Sun Today. After this, the only way for Grey Daze to make any more music would be to make original material.

I'll also point out again that Chester's family is involved in this album and I doubt they would approve of, much less lend their voices to, anything that was intended to be capitalizing off of Chester's death.
