Xavi has yet to win at home in Europe (three ties). Odd considering the success elsewhere.

Ah yes, the most likeliest of scorers to get one back... Busquets.

    Edit: jk

protesting that they were able to buy tickets in Barca ultra sections for ten minutes doesn’t seem that odd. European stadiums are heavily segmented for a reason

If there were Frankfurt fans in the ultras section then some Barca ultras must have sold their tickets to them.

I guess that Super Bowl gave them a taste…

Still, that’s about 150m for three potentially four players… i can see us going for Osimhen, David and Neves as that would likely be about that much.

As bad as they've been, this is a huge shock to me

    Confirmed by the club too.

He left before, but i actually think this is a crazy move. It’s too late to bring someone in to save them I think, that normally takes time unless they have someone ready to take over now. IMO they would be better hoping Dyche can dig them out.

Also feels weird to not back him, when he said many times the squad wasn’t good enough, and then fire him.

Dyche is the 1 reason they stayed in the PL as long as they did, bizarre decision to make. He will get another PL job quite easily imo, he is better than people give him credit for

Feels like there must have been a disagreement or something behind the scenes.

I was trying to describe myself to someone

Hasn't he had a rough ride with the owners the last few years?

Also, they could argue they've bought him two forwards who have recently played in the CL and the team still doesn't score. Not saying that's fair, but I imagine that would be their take.

One season after playing in 72 games… barely makes it to 25. These figureheads really need to protect players better at the team, league, and confederation levels. You’re seeing it all over Europe after the double event summer.

Whilst this is true, they have also sold players. They basically have spent a net £9m in three seasons I believe, so to then fire him because the results have been poor is crazy. The owners just pocketed the tv money.

He’ll be managing Everton next season i think.

I have for a while referred to something i call the West Bromwich See Saw. It’s all the clubs who can at any point be between 10th in the Championship and about 14th in the PL.

At one end, you have teams like Norwich and Bournemouth who try to play “pretty” football and usually get spanked in the PL but dominate the Champ, and on the Brexity end you have Stoke, Burnley, etc, who stand more chance of staying up through sheer will and organisation.

The issue is, when these more “ugly” teams spend a few years over achieving and are in the PL for a few years, they always get restless and do something stupid. If Burnley just kept investing and keeping everything going, solid defensive play and adding a few flair/technical players, they’d probably never go down.

I think Burnley have doomed themselves and saved Everton.

Stoke did something similar with Mark Hughes, right?

They did it twice, also with Pulis (although he sort of dug his own grave there)

This is fascinating, although I'd be interested at seeing their working out here.
