Thought he had a lot of potential on Pony and the EP and I think he finally delivered on that here

 

I agree. Such a strange piece of criticism. Seems to me that he has quite a few modes he can shift to or deploy. I like the variance. Also “Daytona Sand” is one of those songs that’s almost too good. I just end up replaying it 6 times before I move on.

 

How can anyone hear that falsetto on “The Curse of the Blackened Eye” and go “nope, can’t sing”?

Lol this is really gonna be one of my favorite albums of the year. Any album my wife and I can enjoin together is sure to get tons of play.

 

“Hexie Mountains”, what a track

I’d probably agree with this. I think the first 5 tracks are really excellent. Slightly (but only slightly) goes into diminishing returns territory after that but there are still quite a few tracks on the back half I really love. Namely the 1-2 punch of “Hexie Mountains” and “Let Me Drown”

but also, everything has grown on me as well. So idk. It’s a nice album.

 

Im just curious, do you mean the first batch of songs that were released a couple months ago or the first several tracks on the album?

I realize now that’s pretty much the same haha

My favorites are definitely in the beginning right now. Still feel like I need more time with the rest to make any judgment. The Curse of the Blackened Eye is probably my favorite right now though

 

I like this a lot. Probably not as much as Pony, but it’s a fun album.

The line in the P4K review about Orville not being able to sing made me double-take. Craziest thing I’ve seen in a review in a while.

 

It’s rare that a ballad is the standout song to me on first listens of an album, but Let Me Drown is soooo good

(also adding the obligatory fuck p4k)

 

I’m not into country, but i love this album. I listened three times today and kept finding more I like about it.

 

This will be my first country concert.
