Not big on "Chaise Lounge". I'll listen to the others though

I can always be better, so I'll always try. Supporter

My position on this band is that (1) they are fun as hell, (2) this will be a great record, and (3) they are one prominent car commercial away from having the most annoying single on the planet.

I think a lot of people just didn't get how "Chaise Longue" did so well and the haters snowballed right along with their success.

When I first heard Chaise Lounge I thought it was terrible, but it just kept sticking with me and now this is one of my most anticipated albums of the year.

  12. Further proof of how slick these 5 are live... studio track sounds exactly the same, and not for lack of some cool layers!

I feel like the term "industry plant" is thrown around way too often. Wet Leg was signed off a demo and then they obviously had a big team working with them to build hype, get buzz/press coverage, etc. The songs are really fucking good thus why people responded to them. You can't "plant" any act unless people respond to it in some positive way (which is why we're no longer talking about The Tramp Stamps).

Half the record has been released already (was listening to it on the way to The Strokes show last night since I was in a "listen to hyped band" mood haha) and I enjoy those 6 songs. Looking forward to checking out the rest.

Also, any guesses for what size venues this band will play the next time they tour the US?

  19. lol they'll call anything post-punk these days.

But they sold out and burned down Brooklyn Steel a month ago so.... why not the big room?
3k at Terminal 5? Doable? We'll see. I'd like that.

That'd be my guess, 2x at Terminal 5.

tbh most the bands I think of as being plants are men (royal blood, wallows, a few others) but I get this. incredibly odd to use that for this band when looking up, like, any evidence would point to the contrary

"Industry plant” is like the new generation’s way calling someone a “sellout.” They can’t just say they don’t like them, they’ve got to pretend it’s a deeper issue. So dumb.
