I love this band. Still waiting on my wrong color spatter vinyl to show up though!

 

I'm the original person that posted the solo show thing, I've actually been to three shows by myself haha, but they've all been chill rap shows where you kinda stand and vibe as opposed to going crazy. This would obviously be a different vibe

 

As with Morbid Stuff, I liked (but didn't love) the singles on their own but pretty much adore this record as a whole. I think it might be their best since S/T or at least on par with TDIO. That album might have higher highs, but this is a bit more consistent for me. Anyways. The boys don't miss. "Relentless" and "Cutting Off the Corners" are just unreal. Love the opening track and interludes, too.

Also, am I the only one whose least favorite is TDIO? I loved it when it came out, but I go back to the others (and now this one) way more often than that album.

 

Definitely feels like it has fewer of my go-to tracks, and comparatively rarely gets a cover-to-cover listen.

 

This is a huge grower. They literally don’t miss.

No band should make me, a pasty guy from north of London, want to sing loudly about wearing cargo shorts in florida.

I love how Stefan stays true to his ska roots with ridiculous lyrics like "I'm wearing cargo shorts down in Florida, tell me is there any room in your aorta . . ."

I'd go a step further and place PUP firmly above TDIO. That's not to say TDIO is bad by any stretch, I still quite enjoy it when I listen to it, but that's usually only after the line "She says I drink too much . . . Hawaiian red fruit punch!" pops into my head and won't leave.

probably cliche to say but this is album is their Pinkerton, aka PUPerton

 

I’d love a Weezer/PUP split EP for charity or something. Weezer covers “Familiar Patterns”/“Robot Writes a Love Song” and PUP covers “El Scorcho”/“In the Garage”

 

They went OFF tonight in Minneapolis. New songs absolutely fucking ruled and the crowd knew all the words. Stopped the show three times for a missing shoe, glasses and car keys on the floor, which shows me I go to shows with good hearted people (they called us “America’s Canada”).

They debuted “PUPTHEBAND, INC is Filing for Bankruptcy” and it tore the pit apart. Stefan sung four songs that they played as a three piece and he paced around like fucking Henry Rollins, mean mugging. It was kickass.

I ate at Benihana right before the show, and that was an awful idea. But that is tomorrows problem; tonight, I am full of joy.

 

the mix on this album is really keeping me from getting into it the way I got into their last three albums :/

 

At first it bothered me, but now I look at it like a Japandroids record. That’s what it reminds me of.

 

This is a douche comment but the album really does sound so much better on vinyl

 

I'll have to pay more attention on next listen, but nothing particularly negative stuck out to me regarding the mix. It just sounded closer to a live record with some studio tricks, almost like Pinkerton

 

Yeah, I get pretty turned off by bad production but this album had no issues to me

 

tbf I've been playing it on like smaller speakers, feels like an album that needs to be blasted loud lol
