It’s weird to watch the cycle repeat itself again with the Disney “boycott”. I distinctly remember the 90s panic and subsequent boycott over Disney and the “Gay Agenda” from conservatives when I was a kid. There used to be “special services” about it at our church and there were pamphlets and tracts handed out over it. There were kids at my church whose parents wouldn’t allow Disney in their homes because it was “satanic”. I think it was around the time Ellen DeGeneres came out on her show on ABC. Now they’re doing it all over again. Exhausting.

I didn’t mind cover letters cause it gave you a chance to be a little more personal and show your skills. A resume only shows so much and it’s easy for an employer to just throw it away if you didn’t wow them

I find the commentary hilarious. That’s fine, I’ll continue going to Disney and maybe spend less time around these people. I’ve seen a lot of “if you still support Disney, you’re a groomer, pedo pos” comments. People are in an outrage and cancelling Disney+ because of the new D+ discount announced saying it’s because of Disneys “woke status” and they had to find a way to make money after all of the boycotting lolllll.

can’t wait to book my next trip.

  8. Cover letters are stupid. No way recruiters are taking the time to read them.

Eh, 90% stupid and a waste of time. But one got me an interview for my current job, so I think there is value. Mainly when you're pretty sure it's going to be seen by the hiring manager, or you're switching careers/industries and want to add some context. A formulaic cover letter is worse than no cover letter.

It’s wild to think about. The U.S. government regulator has been in a fight with the world’s richest man over his ability to use a communications platform that’s vital to his business interests — and he just went and effectively bought the platform. Both Can and I have repeatedly written about the emerging market-ification of the U.S., and this really feels like another one of those moments where we look back on and remember how we all posted memes as it happened.

Got an email today that Gov. Murphy has directed a remote work program be established for state workers and the civil service commission approved it. Each department will be required to offer a telework program of no more than 2 days a week. The pilot program will last one year and be implemented by July 1st.

I’m pumped. The union has been pushing hard to get this implemented. And would be cool for other states to follow this lead and it can encourage private sector to implement where feasible as well.

Remote work makes sense and is a way more efficient use of resources for a ton of jobs, need more government officials to embrace it.

I feel that I'm more productive in the office and I miss spinning my chair around to shoot the shit with some coworkers. But I don't think anyone should be forced into the office unless absolutely necessary

I was on an all hands call today where they were harping on how much they want us all back. My boss already approved us not going back at all so I'm pumped. What a shame I won't get to enjoy the millions of dollars they pumped into renovating. :tear:
