Around 7 years ago I would freelance for a TV news site and that’s a little more than what I got paid, I was also paid based on clicks. I would be paid for an evergreen article where I would write up a slide show of 10-40 slides and get paid a base $50 without future click revenue.

I usually just lurk but hi I wanted to share..
I know theres a lot going on in the world but I'm also surprised this didnt get more press. My friends and family out of state had no idea.
It's the largest mass shooting in Sacramento history, 6 dead and 15 injured.
I was out at that night with a group of friends for a birthday, literally 2 blocks from where it happened. My husband and I went home a few hours before the shooting, it happened at 2am just as all the clubs there shut down for the night, and also a Tyler the Creator show was earlier so the area was extra packed.

They didnt release victims til 48 hours later so it was a terrifying two days of reaching out to all my friends to make sure they made It home and also getting calls from loved ones making sure I was alive. Sobering and surreal. Thankfully everyone I know was okay.

They've arrested 2 people, but it's still developing. multiple shooters and semi or fully automated weapons. Whole parts of downtown still blocked off for evidence. Theres tons of videos from the crowd circulating online of victims on the ground as it happened, but I can't watch that kind of stuff

Its heartbreaking and horrible. Everyone here in central CA is really rattled by it, despite it seeming to fly under the radar everywhere else
