Probably just coincidence, but I did always think Holland reminded me of some of Ultimate Peter's artwork. Also interesting that both involved an epic final battle with GG

Finally watched this. It was great, a lot of fun to be with the old characters. Thought they did an okay job with the multiverse stuff, didn’t expect it to end with Strange containing the problem, I thought this was gonna lead right into MoM with Strange’s issues with the multiverse happening at the same time as what happened in Loki but I guess it’s going a different way.

There were some really funny lines

Interested to see if we get any MCU versions of the villains from this with Peter meeting them and being like, oh shit, I know how this winds up.

I almost feel like we won't, mostly because Feige said many times part of the feeling that led to this movie was that, for example, no one can replace Alfred Molina as Dr. Octopus.

It would be kind of a waste at this point, especially when there are still plenty of villains to use that haven't seen the screen yet.

Would be funny though, what you said. Movie would be over in like five minutes.

So they announced that there would be deleted and extended scenes on the Blu-ray and last minute straight up didn’t include them at all.

the running theory is they are going to put it back in theaters with additional scenes, presumably with at least what was supposed to be on the Blu-ray, and show a look at Across the Spider-Verse.

Well you know, now that the Summer of Morbius is ruined, they have to make back that money somehow.

Finally caught this and it was great. Hit me right in the nostalgia seeing Tobey and he did such a good job.

I actually regret not seeing it in theaters. Would’ve loved to see/hear some of the reactions. Especially Matt M and the Dafoe delivery of “…you know I’m somewhat of a scientist myself”.

I think I've watched it more than any movie at this point. Maybe 5 or 6 times

Like in your life? Because I’ve seen Star Wars probably like 50 times over my life lol

Yeah I'm not a big movie watcher, I don't really have a great attention span so TV tends to be more accessible for me lol

Although maybe I have it beat with some childhood VHS tapes like Toy Story or Lion King

There are some movies that were on HBO when I was in college that I’ve probably hit triple digits on just because there was nothing else on. I think I’ve seen that recount movie and definitely maybe a BUNCH

Yea shoot, there are movies I watch at least once a year and have for a long time. Lots of movies I’ve seen 30+ times.

Bought this. Started it in the scene where the other Spider-Men were introduced and watched until Gobby was cured, then jumped to the final nighttime web-swinging moment & Eddie Brock credit scene.

Honestly cannot imagine rewatching the whole thing again on purpose. The opening night Spider-mania crowd was a fantastic experience, but divorced from that, even the good stuff is mostly fine, imo. But, Andrew Garfield gives me enough good vibes that I will probably revisit that stretch with him the same way I revisit the ASM films. Love that man’s Peter/Spidey (and… just love that man).

I can’t imagine spending money to watch a film at the cinema 9 times, much less 292 times.

    Dude spent at least $4,400.

I could have done it for $160. I got a year of regal unlimited for that amount. Showtimes only have to be 3 hours apart and with a 2 hour and 30 minute movie, plus trailers, that was pretty much a guarantee. I am sure he has some sort of program like that.

Rewatched ASM 1-2 after not seeing them in forever.
Still raimi spiderman 3 bad for me. Andrew is fine. The villains and their motivations are awful. Harry arc is awful. Gwen stuff is good, but the tone switch to those scenes makes it feel like two different movies spliced. The whole briefcase/parent stuff is overbearing.

I think the new trilogy might be tops for me because raimi spiderman 3 is just so fucking awful. If the new trilogy just had less avengers crossover it wouldn’t even be close.

That's fair. I've watched it enough where I tend to skip to Andrew appearing, too at this point haha.

I haven’t done a rewatch at home yet. But starting when Andrew comes in does leave you with a pretty great viewing.

Based solely on the actor’s performance of the character (which is flavored by, but not the same thing as, overall quality of films)… Andrew Garfield is unquestionably my definitive cinematic Peter Parker & Spider-Man thus far. As much as the flaws of those films stick out more to me with each revisit, I’ll still take those imperfect vessels for his take over a lot of “better” movies.

After years of unpopular cynicism, I did eventually give in and accept that Spider-Man 2 is the best live action Spidey flick. It’s frankly in the conversation for best live action superhero film, period. But, that’s very much so due to the Raimi-directed perfect alchemy of its parts. Tobey in this Watts film is nice in that “hey there, old friend!” kinda way, but I’m not eager for more from him without Raimi, Dunst, Simmons, & Elfman along for the ride.

I really don’t know what it’d take for Tom Holland’s take to evolve into something I connect to, unfortunately. He’s never worked for more than scattered fleeting moments. But as always, on the positive side, obligatory reminder that Zendaya’s MJ rules.

I’ve seen Independence Day probably 200 times. Every kind of dialogue I at least vaguely know.
