i bought a New 2DS XL a while back and got a few games but i was still considering a few more

bad company that makes good games.
suing their fans, shutting down emulation sites, giving no legal means to purchase classic games outside of their switch nes/snes/n64 emulators that have barebones catalogs on them right now. not bringing mother 3 to the west.
i mean i could go on.

Nintendo is actually famously pretty “good” as far as big companies goes. A lot of the things you mentioned are out of their hands. They for example HAVE TO go after copyright violations such as rom sites.

I mean, this is kind of dumb logic, isn't it?

I emulate all day everyday, but I totally recognize Nintendo has a right to look after their intellectual property, whether they're offering an alternative or not.

Thinking that just because they're not selling the product means we should get it for free is taking a giant fucking leap.

I mean, you said you criticize them for shutting down emulation sites. May I ask why you criticize them for that?

 

Because they don't really offer us a legal alternative to play a lot of classic games they've released, including ones that aren't just licensed games. Because emulation statistically doesn't affect their bottom line. Most people that emulate would gladly fork over whatever amount to play classic games if it's reasonable and they give us a means to. Like yeah they're fully within their legal rights to go after the stites, but it's still shitty IMO.

 

If you don’t enforce your intellectual property you can lose it
