yeah it is extremely weird but “cult” is the wrong word. there’s no sort of ideological backing there

People are pretty brazen posting that stuff on Twitter. Seems like the kind of stuff a guy would sue someone over.

this seems to be a really accurate take on the movie

You know, I just sat down in the theater to finally get this over with and I kinda feel sad that all the hypothetical trash talk and speculation is going to be over. We will sit through it and be able to discuss exactly why it’s bad… and then that’s it. It’ll probably just be another forgettable CBM at the end of the day.

but most importantly, what trailer will I be able to count on to play to allow me the time to go pee one more time before the movie starts?

We will know if it’s truly bad if I see it and don’t like it. I like everything

Well, it’s over. I have seen Morbius. And… honestly… it wasn’t good. But it wasn’t the abomination it could have been.

the plot is just your super basic origin story where the villain gets the same powers and they fight at the end.

some of the reviews seemed to have been hyperbolic on some of the stuff they didn’t like. The vfx were pointed out, but I honestly didn’t see anything that bad? One exception is the work on Milo’s face when he’s transformed. I couldn’t decide if it was the design on his face or the cgi work wasn’t up to snuff. Morbius looked fine, but Milo’s face stood out in a bad way. There was complaint of the final fight about it being too dark and zoomed in to see what happened. But… there was actually barely a fight at all and there was a very long slow mo part. There was maybe one shot that fits that description, but that’s it? The rest is pretty clear. The other part that looked weird to me was his aura (which seems to change colors for no obvious reasons) or whatever. When he was jumping around the city for the first time he just looked like a blur and I felt like seeing him and his expression would have been better than a super wide shot with him as a blur flying around.

honestly the biggest offense was that it was just kind of boring. Wait, I take that back, the mid credits scene was the most offensive part. Just awful. But the movie itself wasn’t god awful.

Leto was fine, it’s a very subdued performance, so his normal eccentricities are not a factor here.

Smith was alright. He has to dancing moments that are kind of weird. It kind of makes sense why his character would do something like that since he couldn’t physically do it before, but it kinda took me out of the moment both times.

it definitely feels like they cut quite a few scenes. There’s really no reason the feds break into Martine’s apartment when they do. Various moments/lines missing from the trailer. With as much time as they had between filming and release you would think they would have known what did or didn’t make the cut for the final trailer. Whatever.

Martine is barely a character. Same with the two feds. Tyrese is particularly useless. Didn’t really do anything. Could have gotten by with just the one guy and nothing would have changed.

The ending does completely ignore the fact that Morbius will need real blood within days and not wanting to do that has him say he’ll kill himself. But clearly he doesn’t and despite being a good person is down to team up with Toomes against someone he’s never heard of. Did he decide to be a bad guy during the first part of the credits off screen? It really doesn’t make sense at all.

Or that his theater is always dead on Thursday night screenings? Minus No Way Home, my theater generally gets 10-20 people and that’s it. That’s what I got tonight, so it seemed to pull in the usual crowd here.

anyway, hell of a first half of april for movies between this, the bubble, ambulance, fantastic beasts 3, and that religious biopic wahlberg signed on for. i'll actually be pretty surpised if sonic ends up being better than any of em

“Apollo 10 1/2” is quite good and “Lost City” was mildly enjoyable. But yeah, looking grim for the next couple of weeks.

Ah ok. I didn’t see we’re talking about April films. For us common folk in the Midwest, “Everything Everywhere” is an April movie, so there is at least something to look forward to. Also anticipating “Unbearable Weight.” Looks like a lot of fun.

Last week I saw X and The Lost City which were both good but not great to me. Taking this week off from Da Moviesh and very much looking forward to Everything Everywhere, Unbearable Weight and The Northman. I might go see Sonic, and I have one friend that wants to see AmbuLAnce with me but he’s a firefighter with 2 kids so that might wait til May lol

The only movies I’ve seen so far in 2022 are Belle, The Batman, and a special Cinemark Black History Month showing of my favorite 2020 film, Da 5 Bloods. So, at least I’ve exclusively seen good movies so far?

Very excited for Everything Everywhere etc.; also quite looking forward to The Northman; feel like there was a third April-ish release I’m forgetting? Anyways, love “the movies.”

(Might sneak in a viewing of this sometime this month for the heck of it, lol, but I don’t know if I wanna look at Leto’s face on the big screen for two hours.)
