  1. eek what a bizarre overcorrection, especially given the other conversation about the extant option of impeachment... There are many obvious reasons why SCOTUS doesn't have a "code of ethics," especially one ginned up by members of another branch lol

If he violated the core ethics of judgeship, the procedure to hold him accountable exists and a code of ethics would do nothing to make it easier to use it. This just more mugging for the cameras.

I think the most we can expect from Democrats is being upset when he overturns the next election.

  4. Warren will really stick it to him though. Think of the meme-printed mugs! The "darn you, Clarence!" tee shirts!

Small thread from someone who has been doing a great job talking about antibodies and vaccines and such:

basicLly there are a few reasons why you wouldn’t expect to see a whole bunch of change right away, especially in small studies on primates, and that we need to keep shifting to train our immune systems

I don’t think it’s unreasonable for Congress to impose some rules on the SC Justices. I’m tired of acting like the Court isn’t another partisan political branch, they need checked too.

as I think others on this thread have pointed out, fahrenheit is much better for human scale activities.

real solution is to do a trade:

us adopts metric system for everything non temperature related, everyone else adopts fahrenheit.

  10. Yeah but can you even conceive of a rule that doesn't exist yet, could ever possibly be passed, and which would actually make further checks on the court any less political?

TurboTax was free for me in the Army and I just kept using it. Wouldn't mind a class action lawsuit out of this.

As someone who moved to the states 6-7 years ago I have to say that the fact that in 2022 Americans still use Fahrenheit, miles, inches and ounces is just plain whack.

  15. Fahrenheit is good.

I remember in like 3rd grade being told "we have to learn metric, we're all going to switch to it soon" and I really thought like it was something where on one day we'd all just use the metric system. Like it was all agreed on or something. 30 years later ... still waiting.

I used freetaxusa, it was fine it’s basically the same. Never using TurboTax again after they got money out of me last year.

I use hrblock…I used to be able to actually do it with just their free stuff but as life got more complicated I now need to pay. But still cheaper than paying an accountant to do it

    wanna go for a ryyyde

even if there was a consensus that switching to metric was the way to go, i feel like it would basically be the biggest clusterfuck ever. think about all the long existing infrastructure in the us and every possible technical regulation thats based on inches/feet/miles lol. even if we tried to switch it would take lifetimes and to get to the point where we could abandon imperial
