  1. I love In Utero lol, best Nirvana record by five miles. But the Albini remix sounds so much better

I put American Slang on in the car tonight and it felt so good.

My favorite Gaslight show was on the American Slang tour when they played Penn's Landing in Philly. Gorgeous July night, great balance in the setlist between SoS/59 Sound/American Slang,

One of my favorites ever. Both of their Double Door shows, really.

  9. I remember seeing a lot of hype for The '59 Sound on ap.net at the time, yet the couple singles I checked out didn't click. I suppose the reason being that I was completely unfamiliar with that style. However a bit later on, I was up all night watching the Reading 2009 livestream and when their set came up, I did a total turnaround on their music.

I still have fond memories of the night American Slang leaked, having my first listen while browsing their thread which was blowing up on here. I take this reunion as a good opportunity to revisit the later material which I didn't really spend enough time with back then.

What sold me on these guys was a live performance of “Angry Johnny and the Radlo” in front of of like 500 people at some festival and the song “Even Cowgirls Get The Blues”.

This was excatly my story,I did seen hype around 59’ on one of the czech music servers, didn’t care for them for years until I saw them live on Get Hurt tour with Against Me! …a that giant upside down heart, opening riff of Stay Vicious and the whole light show at HOB Boston just changed everything for me.One of the most important bands for me ever since.I even traveled to NJ just to be in one of the Brian’s videos and it was worth every penny.Love.This.Band.

Really interested in what a new LP would sound like after Get Hurt, which has only grown in my heart since release. Especially with all the cool side projects recently like Dead Swords, Forgivers, and Brian killing it with all his solo stuff.

"Goodnight Springton, there will be no encores!"

Seen a few "How I Met" stories on here which has made me reflect on my own.

I first came across The Gaslight Anthem when this site (RIP AbsolutePunk) posted news of the new single '45' (can't remember if it was an exclusive release). Handwritten soon became the soundtrack to my final year of school (Year 12 in Australia). Down here it's also the year you turn 18, get your drivers license, can drink legally etc. So it was a pretty big year, and one with which The Gaslight Anthem will forever be entwined.

I remember when they came to Melbourne in 2013. My best mate and I saw them at a venue that no longer exists (RIP Palace Theatre, sadly torn down to make way for apartments).

Anyway, like so many of you, this band means a lot to me. Here's hoping any future tours include my hometown, all the way down here in Melbourne.

My younger brother bought a copy of '59 Sound on CD at Newbury Comics and gave it to me and said I had to check it out, said they were awesome. I distinctly remember playing it and the first two songs not really clicking, but then the guitar in "Old White Lincoln" came in and I fell in love. I don't know what I was thinking because the first two songs on that album are fantastic, but that's how it went down. Then going back and checking out Sink or Swim sealed the deal. SoS is still one of my favorite albums of all time to this day.

I've only seen them twice, and once was at an outdoor festival in Maine which, although it was a really cool experience and fun time, was kind of an abbreviated set. The other show was the Handwritten tour in Boston where they busted out "Halloween" and it was fucking incredible. Definitely going to have to try to get tickets this time around.
