Ended up pulling the trigger on the 13 pro max in green. Decided against the financing and just traded in my 11 pro max plus I had a couple hundred in gift cards. Ended up paying like 500 out of pocket. So I guess I can finance the 14 if I want it bad enough.

 

There might not be a huge difference between the 13 and 14, but there’s going to be an even bigger difference between the 11 and 14, than the 11 and 13. That was a lot of numbers in one sentence, but that’s why I’m waiting. Unless you’re desperate, I’d wait. You’ve come this far.

Go with the XM4s.

They’re more comfortable to wear for long periods of time, and they have slightly better noise cancellation.

I finally an M1 MBA. This thing is INCREDIBLE. I really made the wrong bet back in 2020, where I wanted to wait it out for a new MBP and bought the M1 iPad Pro instead. iPadOS just hasn't matured in the way it's hinted at ever since they added the Magic Keyboard and then the M1 chip, and I got tired of being severely limited by that OS. There's also no way I could afford $3500 for the model of MBP I wanted, so I bought this MBA from a friend instead. My poor 2013 MBP has just been limping along since 2018. Feels good to be back on macOS again.

 

Wow, I've just fired up my new 14" MacBook Pro and the ProMotion display is a game changer. Apple reaaaaaally need to get a monitor with it built in.

 

So definitely behind the time but is the USB-C the only way to charge an Apple Watch SE?

I’m looking at getting a 13 pro Max in the next few weeks what will I need for charging on that? Will I still be able to connect to my car via USB?

 

yeah you can charge it the same exact way you can charge every iPhone, you can also additionally do MagSafe now. It doesn't have a USB-C port. The other side of the lightning cable doesn't matter.

Same for the Apple Watch SE.

 

Sorry for now just responding. Basically I am considering an iPad so I can do some wire framing more comfortably while on the go (bus, for example) as well as showing mockups to others. I have read that Figma UI is a bit odd on iPad compared to Mac, so I'm not sure if I'd want to go towards something else or if it would even be worth it. I haven't found any opinions on Figma for iPad that are not a year or more old, so maybe the UI has improved.

I also like to doodle designs and take notes on the process either before or during wire framing and using a tablet would make the process better so that I don't have to flip open my notebook. Again, maybe it's not worth it, but, yeah, just checking out my options. I know that iPadOS doesn't have a lot of the desktop-level software, so I'm not sure if I'd do much more than doodling/note taking/wire framing.

As for the Air or the Pro...the only thing that seems to be a deciding factor is the Pro Motion display, but other than just feeling nicer when I swipe, I don't know if I'll need it?

As for the keyboard, I'm confident I can make do with the Logitech Folio keyboard with track pad instead of paying higher for the Apple Keyboard.

 

Figma on iOS is a horrible experience in my opinion. It's the tool I use 99% of the time when I am working, that said they have a brand new mobile app now so, who knows.

Idk, I'm not a fan. I think a little notebook + a macbook of sorts will still beat doing this kind of work on iPad.

On iPad I was going to use Procreate for wire framing instead of Figma.

Thanks, though. It seems like an iPad won’t be too much of a plus aside from minor upgrades in handling. I’d have to use it for non-work related tasks to really justify the purchase. Maybe I’ll pick up one towards the end of summer if I think I can experiment with it.
