quick thought on death wolf, somehow it reminds me of old school TBS while still capturing their new sound

 

A long time TBS fan here who has followed and seen every incarnation of this band live (TBS 1.0, Fred Era, New Again, and TBS OG Reunion). I've enjoyed every album they have released and they are my favorite musical act. Just finished my first listen taking a 45 minute highway drive. I got chills and teared up during parts of the album.I absolutely loved it and can't wait for my special edition pre order bundle to get here so I can get deeper into the album. I know they are devisive and everyone doesn't like their later output but I feel like I've grown and matured along side them, which feels really special to me.

I really impressed by the production and feel like there is a density to it that I'll come to appreciate even more in time. Highlights of the album besides songs already released Fences, Homcoming, I'll find a way to make it what you want.

Can't wait to see them Oct 18 with my hometown crew. Glad the feedback has been positive in this thread.

love adams voice in the chorus of All Excess. Really loving this so far, the acoustic guitars in Fences threw me off a bit but they sound great

 

I can't find this leak and it's bumming me out.

I've seen them live every time they've been in Michigan/Ohio since 2002. This extra day wait is literally killing me.

Might be an unpopular opinion here, but i think Adam's vocals in Holy Water are horrendous. The struggle is real in that song.

The rest of the album is damn good. Really like the direction they went.

 

I'll need a few more listens but there are little melodic leaps that seem to be reused in some songs. Not note for not but just similarities.

 

Finished the record, its really good! I don't know if I like it more than happiness is yet. The americana influence is real strong on this and its a good direction for them to go in. Every song is really accessible and easy to digest and enjoy. I can't help but feel like this would have been a great Summer release, even with the art work and all. But overall very happy with it

 

this thing really picks up after the first three tracks. like, big time.

 

oh and this band proves again that they know how to write great closers

 

I kind of agree, I mean Death wolf and cant look back are great too tidal wave just feels so damn out of place ha

 

Pretty refreshing record coming from them.
