Not quite. Remember, Morbius also was in production when Marvel Studios and Sony were separated. I think Plan A was for Morbius to feed into Venom 2, which would’ve then led to a Spidey 3 without Marvel Studios. (Which, might’ve been an earlier version of the Kraven “solo” film? The initial screenwriter said Spidey was in it, and it came out at one point that Kraven was one of Tom Holland’s pitches to Sony during the break up.)

Which, one interesting wrinkle is the unsubstantiated rumor that Morbius originally featured a prison break that would’ve seen both Vulture and Cletus escape. If that ever gets confirmed, it’d help explain why the first ten minutes of Venom 2 has such weird pacing. Maybe originally Venom helped Cletus get locked back up?

Plan B was probably close to what we got, except with the events of Strange 2 being why the multiverse is all wonky instead of that awkwardly written botched spell. (Let’s call Plan C the MCU version of Kraven vs Spidey that Jon Watts mentioned if they couldn’t get the old actors to sign on.) So, when things shifted again, they had to massage the script to make it work without the lead in from Strange. Which, from interviews, we know they didn’t know the ending yet when they started shooting NWH.

And, through this whole process, it was clearly vague what they wanted to do with Venom and Morbius canon until very late in the process. Like, they shot both the Carnage and NWH credit scenes on the NWH set close to Carnage’s release, and did Morbius reshoots in the winter.

    What a dilemma! A Spidilemma!

But really, what a fuck up. I mean, this is the best they could come up with? Fucking amateur hour, in my opinion, as someone who knows absolutely nothing about writing a script, making a movie, and trying to tie it into a billion dollar franchise.

    But still, fucking amateur hour.

This still has the epic “bat radar” line. Let’s hope the echolocation change in that other clip was just some weird thing they did.

I’ve never done this before in my life, but if this is truly the trash pile it appears to be, after the second credit scene I am going to boo this movie. Stand and and just yell it for a few moments as I walk out.

The director just spoiling the movie. Dude doesn’t even give a fuck at this point.

So they basically just decided characters can cross universes now because of No Way Home without any thought behind why that actually happened in the movie.

Leto won the razzie the worst supporting actor for his god awful performance in House of Gucci. Maybe he’ll get lucky and win lead actor next year for this garbage.

Do you think that's a level of hell, where they just keep playing the Morbius trailer over and over?

Yes, but with the caveat that it keeps switching between “bat radar” and “echolocation” and you never know which one it’s going to be.

“It’s so inconsistent!!! Which is it?!? WHICH IS IT?!?”

I can't think of the last time a Marvel movie had this much full on contempt from the general audience in the lead up to release instead of anticipation. Even the first Venom movie didn't feel like it was as DOA in the months before it's release (which those movies turned out to rule due to a completely committed Tom Hardy... but Leto sure as shit isn't Tom Hardy)

Actually, file this next to The New Mutants, Dark Phoenix, and Fant4stic in terms of Marvels I don't remember anyone being excited for

  18. Wondering if this is bad bad or good bad. I have 2 free movie tickets to use before March is over

I would be waiting for Redbox if I didn’t have regal unlimited. Feedback seems to suggest it’s bad bad so far. Embargo lifts the 30th, I believe, so we’ll hear more details then.

more than fair. I just want to see this train wreck for myself because I hate myself.

venom had a great lead in Tom Hardy. Morbius has a pediphile cult leader for their lead.

Yea if Everything Everywhere All At Once is playing near you the weekend of Morbius's opening, please go see that instead and support something good and original and not another sad attempt at a cinematic universe from an awful lead actor
