this is my big shuffle playlist I use for them quite often if anyone interested. it was just after afterburner so I need to add a few more from there. think it’s a good mix and captures the best of each album and the band as a whole. I throw it on shuffle and let her rip without hitting next ever

Track doesn’t blow me away but still some cool tricks. Usually takes some time for their singles to really settle in for me too. Also can’t miss the opportunity to rank:

    Mothership
    Acceptance Speech
    DBM
    Afterburner
    Instant Gratification
    DBM II
    Artificial Selection
    S/T
    Happiness
    WISIRO

I've long fantasized about them going back and re-working the Royal Ocean tracks.

Someone here go make them do that.

also one little complaint: guitars need to be turned up. like, way up. you can hardly make out all the tasty licks. feel like instant gratification is the perfect sonic blueprint for this band's sound. production is a little too vocal heavy as of late but it makes sense as the music all revolves around tilian and jon as theyve evolved into a more pop style, just wish those guitars were more audible.

I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

Seems like all of the lead licks are hard panned right, which makes them feel a little more thin, but they’re definitely there. Agree with you though, they’re very tasty when you can parse them out

oh yeah the two guitar tracks have always been panned hard left and hard right since the DBM days (its why i can never listen to them with one headphone in lol) but they usually still sound beefy and level with each other. they just feel pushed back more and more lately.

I always feel like I should take Tilian’s hype with a grain of salt. DGD with a “double album” would be fascinating. They are ultra consistent, so I can’t imagine it would be bad.

Two 9 track albums "Good Luck" and "Bad Luck". Both have similar artwork but one with a happy vibe and the other a defeated vibe.

^ I made this up but could be cool. Would allow them to do 15 variants of each for maximum Rise Coins

thank you for saying this lol

i get really annoyed when i see the occasional person say theyre safe or whatever

its like yeah the pop prog funk screamo band is safe. yeah right.

this band is unsafe compared to most any other you can (and do) listen to. and they definitely all shred like no one else could even dream of but also know how to write an actual song with actual melody. its the rarest thing.

yeah like the fact they’ve even managed to maintain any sort of consistency (let alone the level of consistency they have achieved which is completely unprecedented) given the style of music they’re dealing with is astounding in its own right. but again they’re throwing new shit at the wall every album and putting out high quality music. it’s nuts.

  19. Haven't listened to the single yet but I figured this would be the best place to ask this: Is there a list of the bands Dance Gavin Dance have connections to, either through shared current or ex members, or through the "swancore" style they created?

I'm mainly asking because I've been looking for a band for a while that reminded me of them, except the singer sounded almost identical to Anthony Green. The song I have in mind must have been from 2014/2015. I wish I remembered more details.

Also I'll have to listen to Eidola. I don't think I've ever checked them out before.

Probably Stolas or Sianvar. The latest Eidola record is incredible. Probably my favorite non-DGD record to play that style of swancore, if it’s even considered that.

Yeah I'd say either Hail the Sun or Sianvar personally... both of those bands were on Blue Swan Records and have Donovan Melero on vocals, who sounds a lot like Anthony. Sianvar actually has Will Swan on guitar.

you are def thinking of Donovan Melero. Hes in Sianvar, Hail the Sun, and Nova Charisma. those last two bands I listed I think are the best of the non DGD swancore.
