  1. Alright done book 3 and the last half was some good shit. Mats story got interesting, nynaeve, egwene, and elaynes story was great (give my boy mat a break though ladies!), and even rand's small appearances were good. Perrin is now my least favorite, though he gets constantly shit on by moraine so I feel for him.

Going to take a break and read blood sweat and Chrome and maybe something else before book 4.

  2. Over halfway through book 4 and actually like Perrins story. Glad the dumb shit between he and Faile didn't last the entire book.

One thing I don't like overall is that the characters are so absurd in their stubbornness or stupidity. After 3.5 books you'd think they would just accept all the shit that's going on and deal with it.

  3. Done book 4 and who I like and hate keeps shifting. I thought Perrin had a good second half of the book. Mat is annoying to me now. Not enough Min in the last two books, hope we get a lot more of that story in the next one.

A lot happens in 4. Whenever i go back to reread, or read a refresher on it, I'm amazed at all the plot that's packed in. What annoyed you about Mat in this one? I never found him annoying till Sanderson took over as he sort of caricatured him (in my opinion). You will definitely get more of Min down the road. The characters definitely each have their moments and sink into the forefront and background between books. Perrin's arc is good, but he's just written in a really annoying way that I don't want to explicitly say in case it's spoiler territory.

Siuan and Min each continue to grow and grow out of this book.

Not that it really matters, but we do have a thread for the books specifically if you want to be a little more spoilery to not say anything that may yet still happen in the show: The Wheel of Time (Robert Jordan) • forum.chorus.fm

I agree, Sanderson's first book (12) with Mat was terrible, but he corrected it thankfully imo.

  6. It just seems that through four books and over a year in time, Mat just refuses to accept what's happening. He complains and complains and complains. Hides his changes from people. Everyone seems to have accepted what's happening, even Perrin despite him doing it begrudgingly.

For a series I love, it sure has a lot of very frustrating characters lol

I’m almost done book 4…the whole part of Matt and rand and the weird mist area dream/flashback/whatever it was confused the heck out of me. So many new characters I couldn’t keep track of them but it picked back up with Perrin and Nyneave/Elaynes storylines

That's one of the best parts of the series imo

    But yes a little confusing

Maybe I need to re-read it. I liked what was happening but didn’t really understand it first read through and got overwhelmed by all the names.

Rhuidean is one of the best things in all of fantasy, imo. But yeah, it could be confusing.

  12. Halfway through book five and no Perrin yet. That makes me worried that book six is gonna be half Perrin lol.

How much time you spend with each character fluctuates massively between books. I won't say more than that. I think though this is about the time I noticed his absence and wanted more and was told no I didn't and whoever said that was right. I'll spoiler it because it's not in the show yet but his relationship with Faile is so annoying and his chapters become so repetitive with Jordan trying to explain how his senses are so wolf life. We get it, no need to say how every single character every time smells.

It is confusing but the names don't really matter (other than the connections between them) and the chronology. What it explains is more important than any of the individuals and I think that's made clear by the end of the book, if not the next one.

  15. 2/3rd of the way done Lord of chaos. No Perrin other than in the prologue so now I'm worried the entire 7th book will be just him lol

  16. Finished book six. It's funny how who I like and dislike changes so often. Really cans stand egwene, elayne, and naenave right now and they were my three favorite up to this point.

  17. Nynaeve is the absolute worst

She was far and away one of my two favorites in the show so that's a bummer to hear lol

I'm like 90% done with book five (meaning maybe I'll finish in a month lol) and Nyneave has never stopped being the absolute worst. I feel like her arrogance and refusal to ever admit fault is supposed to be funny but it's just grating

Still loving the book though lol

  20. I'm a third through book 7 and she's still the same lol. Very frustrating.

    yeah good okay Prestigious

I only got to book 3 and that was ten years ago but I still very vividly remember not liking her either. The sniffing, the braid tugging, the crossing the arms beneath her breasts and all that

She’s fiercely protective and loyal. She’s headstrong, sure, but so are Rand and Perrin and Egwene and Elayne and... You can tell she’s terrified but keeps going on anyways because that’s what she has to do for the ones she loves. One of the strongest women in all of fantasy who is never afraid to take up space. She owns her mistakes when she has to, but she also never makes a mistake for a reason you couldn’t understand. Absolutely wonderful character.

  25. Disagree lol
