I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

Is that Rob or Andrew doing the harmonies at the end?
Really really great single. Glad Mess is going further with the melodic screaming.

Am I wrong in thinking this seems more comparable to Summertime Gladness than Prisoner?

100%, way funkier than Prisoner. Gave me some Head Hunter vibes too. I think Prisoner was brought up only because it was also the first single released.

We reach for the longest shadow

Sounded like Rob to my ear

EDIT: Trying to keep from double posting. Seems like there's a lot more guitars being panned to each speaker than there usually is for them. I wonder if that has something to do with Andrew being "officially" a part of the band now. Has he performed the second guitar parts before?

The guy from Wolf & Bear, Louie Balthazar, also does some guitar on this song I think, so there is 3 guitar parts rather than the usual two

Dig it. While definitely a good song, I feel like this band has slowly been fading from my Top5 since Mothership. Similar formulas and whatnot, I don't know what it is. Maybe they're predictable at this point in my ear holes? Thinking on it though, it's hard to say they use the same formula when their last album had a 100% spanish song on it haha.

Just weird that 5+ years ago I would've jumped to see DGD live in any city near me. Once this tour was announced, I was kinda like "maybe I'll go to the one in my city."

EDIT: Was just reminded that their superfans are somewhat insufferable. Twitter/Reddit comments just make me feel like an old geezer thinking "I knew this band the year you were born."

I have to agree looking back through the Tilian era now. Acceptance Speech, IG, and Mothership all had reasonably distinct musical identities to me. But everything since then feels like it's blurring together, including this single. To be fair, they did some cool, unique stuff on a handful of Afterburner tracks. I'm just not sure there's much new ground to tread with this lineup. At this point, their schtick is their schtick.

Reminds me of Deftones in terms of each record being only a slight evolution at best... but DGD releases shit at 3x the pace, which almost makes the lack of progression more obvious, unfair as that may be.

Just checked it out, great song & great video! Basically I just have to freely admit to myself now that I just don't care if they don't really mix things up that much lol, they are absolutely my favourite band so just getting more new music to enjoy just feels like a gift "in and of itself". There is always so much variation at every level of the band - the different eras of singers, the albums being so distinct, and down to the songs themselves going in so many different directions - that their music always sounds fresh to me upon release. Thankful ! :praise:

absolutely fantastic song. reminds me more of artificial selection than anything from afterburner did. which I fucking love that album so I’m all for it. Speaking of which….

(note, all these albums are 9/10 minimum this is probably one of my top 3 most listened to bands of all time)

    acceptance speech
    instant gratification
    dbm2
    happiness
    mothership
    downtown battle mountain
    artificial selection
    afterburner
    self titled

Am really hoping to like this new album. Afterburner scratched some weirdly specific itch during the pandemic for me and I have been unable to get into any of their other albums so far, but I LOVE afterburner lol

this one is a banger for sure! it's a little predictable and kinda short but i guess that's somewhat expected with a first single. i definitely like it more than Prisoner on first listen.

i checked out a few secret band clips and i think that's going to have to satisfy me since it's only mess on vocals. could be the perfect band.

The most notable thing about this song is the revelation that Jon pronounces the "t" in "often" and Tilian doesn't.
