I'd say it's the other way around, TCM kicked the door open for horror to be as raw and unflinching as it was at the time. You have to remember that gore and shocking levels of violence wasn't really the norm prior, it was movies like TCM and the grindhouse movement of the 70's that allowed horror to grow past schlocky scares and give birth to subgenres like cannibal exploitation.

Oh and the Italian horror scene, gotta include them too.
Sorry, man, the snob came out for a second.

As a subgenre I like found footage a lot. I don't know what I'd throw out as the best ones. Certainly Blair Witch Project, but also The Visit, VHS 1 & 2, Creep, Cloverfield, Paranormal Activity 1-3 (still need to see the last three) are all very good

Speaking of Cloverfield, I rewatched 10CL and decided I like it a lot more than the first movie

  4. I love 10CL until the ending. Doesn't completely ruin the film for me or anything but I really, really dislike that ending.

Seeing the first PA in theaters was an experience, I had no idea what to expect. Still wish it had the original suicide ending and been a stand alone film but the series isn't all that bad.

Movies like that are actually scary to me. I guess it's the fact that the whole time you're watching the screen for something to happen so you're already on edge when it does

i may get better but we won't ever get well Prestigious

true true, i might have the timelines twisted. i know Cannibal Holocaust came out after TCM at least. Suspiria i would argue has exploitation elements as well. basically lots of amazing classics and plenty of shit ones too. and it aaaaaaaall started with Freaks back in the 30s

Too bad we'll never get the complete version of Freaks due to it be lost to time, the movie as it is now is still good though.

I thought the movie was a blast. I only had one thing I disliked but can't say exactly, as it is spoilerish. It was a sound choice that I didn't agree with.

To those on the fence about seeing it, I absolutely recommend it. I can't wait to watch it again

Agreed wholeheartedly, T&D could have easily not worked but Tyler Labine and Alan Tudyk were so great in it.

Someone mentioned The Canon in here. Is that podcast worth listening to regularly?

  17. I like it, buttt I stopped listening after a few episodes when Devin Faraci became almost intolerable. Amy Nicholson handles it well but he comes off as a completely condescending ass anytime she disagrees with him and it makes some of the episodes much harder to listen to than they should be. I think Clerks might have been the episode where I called it quits.

Blair Witch is showing in 4dx where I live. Really interested to see how that'll work in a horror film.

Having a blast of wind on the back of the neck at a particularly intense part will scare the shot out of me.

ugh, i know the feeling, I have so many things I really want to get framed, but framing shit is pretty expensive :tear:

I just went for it once a couple years ago and it's not too bad to do on your own! Amazon has a nice variety of cheap frames on Prime as well. On the rare occasion you may have to make a slight cut to a print if the dimensions are a little off, but I've only ever had to do that once or twice. Every other time it has been measure, order frame, place print inside, hang.
