It’s a perfect day for letting go... Supporter

well Dysentary Gary IS real punk according to a sophomore at my high school when the album was out, so MAYBE that’s why?

Everyone keeps saying this but outside of the obvious Blink shit he's not brought out any artists from the scene or given them any kind of spotlight so I'm calling bullshit. One dude getting huge off of a bastardized form of an established genre doesn't mean the rest of the scene is going to get a shine from it, I'm sorry.

You're not wrong. I'm stoked for Pvris though! In 8th grade a girl knew that I liked blink so she burned me a copy of Taking Back Sunday's Tell All Your Friends and The Format's Interventions & Lullabies. Which led to countless hours on the internet & me finding my home at AP. Some of these kids will find their way to chorus & other niche sites & go to shows, most will listen to pop radio & go to MGK night at the club when they're able to drink legally

For me it also started with blink and catapulted me into indie rock.

Blink lead me to the Ataris and when I discovered them I saw that Kris roe was really into this band built to spill. From there I discovered the shins, death cab, frightened rabbit, arcade fire, etc.

I love that we're close to the 1,000th page of the tour thread of the second version of a blink 182 fan site, talking about how blink got us into all this other music. Fuck yeah thanks again @Jason Tate

The one “real punk” at my high school used to make fun of me for listening to blink, all while completely ignoring that I also listened to (and went to shows from) Bad Religion, Descendents, Pennywise, etc.

He used to walk around in the same Dead Kennedy’s shirt, studded belt, and combat boots, and he acted like he was the toughest kid in school and made fun of everyone for “not being punk.”

Then we all found out he brought his “punk” clothes to school in a plastic bag in his backpack every day and changed in the locker room, because his mom wouldn’t let him wear them on the bus lol

This sounds straight out of a TV show or something. That’s amazing

I legit feel like I got made fun of more for listening to Less Than Jake, the Bouncing Souls, and MxPx more than I ever did for listening to Blink-182.

I actually think that was because the "punk" kids in my high school viewed Blink as "not punk" and therefore not even worth critiquing in that way. Really weird in hindsight, TBH.

Yeah, that sounds like it could have been in that regrettable "punk" episode of Freaks & Geeks.

like not to complain but I’m fairly sure the original post said one night only. Happy there are more shows but I wish they announced them all at once considering I have tickets to the Jersey show and Worcester is like 20 mins from me

  17. Yeah, it's one of those things that doesn't really have a perfect solution because of all the money reasons behind staggered rollouts. I would have preferred to see them on LI instead of NJ but I also haaaate Mulcahy's so I guess I'm fine haha

Really hope they have new music by then, I'm really sick of seeing the same setlist over and over

Yeah, I saw them the last time they were in Anaheim and it really looked like they were just phoning it in, which I thought was kind of unusual. Hopefully some new music will breathe some life back into their live shows (performance-wise, not crowd-wise. I thought the floor was gonna break because of how crazy the crowd was going. Haha)

Shit. I actually really wanna go to this

Also funny that they list Teenage Angst under Cracker as their big hit, even though Low is arguably their most popular song
