Holy shit, that album has been so memory-holed for some reason but, yes, was big around these parts.

I never got into any of their albums but it was inspiring how hard Moneen hustled. They opened what felt like fucking every tour from 2003-2006 and then got the deal and budget to put out an album people loved on its own.

Earlier song but the end of "Are We Really Happy With Who We Are Right Now" ranks high among the most cathartic moments in the genre for me.

I saw Moneen on a co-headline tour with Bayside around this time, without knowing too much about them. They were so good live, and I was a bit disappointed that none of what I heard from their studio records was anywhere near as good as how they sounded live. Probably one of the best live performers from the various “scene” bands I’ll have seen at this time period.

I caught Moneen on Warped 07(?) and thought their set was pretty much perfect. Loved every bit of it.

I always preferred Are We Really Happy. The emotion on that record is so palpable. Also,

Popping up on various lists so far, and a name I'm not really familiar with was Mutemath's self-titled debut album. This is quite good! Reminds me a bit of something like 30 Seconds to Mars, and that kind of blend of arena rock meeting alternative rock. There's some really cool, instrumental bits to it, that are a bit post rock-esque, or just a bit experimental in general.

An enjoyable first listen, and while I do feel that it was perhaps all blurring into one by the time it came towards the end, there are some cool sounds to this.

cool that you're just now discovering this! And they did in fact make some awesome music videos as @Henry said.

Their frontman Paul Meany is now a close collaborator with Twenty One Pilots - he has been a big part of their songwriting/producing since 2019, and I believe is even a touring member now.

Mutemath put on the greatest live shows too! Paul was a great frontman and Darren was amazing to watch on the drums
