Be cool if someone put together a comprehensive study to showcase who is over/under MLs based on venue size

 

Maybe you could account for bands whose MLs reflect memes/TikTok/viral commercials/one song on a zillion playlists by using a metric for deviation in their top 5 tracks?

I still fancy myself pretty up on popular bands and I had NO idea who Lawrence were and how they are co-headlining a show at Central Park Summerstage w/Misterwives.

 

Say what you will about that tour but I had a lot of fun hahah

 

Same idk who they are ether n my friend didn’t ether I know most popular bands

 

Same with not knowing who Lawrence is... they sound good, but I have no idea what type of radio stations would play their music or who else is in their scene.

Final prediction on Lolla headliners: Billie Eilish - Metallica - Dua Lipa - Doja Cat -ASAP Rocky - Lil Baby - Flume - MGK

 

Metallica looks so out of place on that Lolla lineup. Why didn't they just book someone with more Gen z appeal if the rest of the lineup is going to cater to that demo?

 

To be fair I was just making uneducated guess with that. Metallica is the only confirmed headliner so far. People are saying Green Day is rumored too, so we'll see soon.

 

gotta try and get someone who would cater to an older audience. Also with streaming, I’m sure Metallica does well with true younger generation

But what older audience still goes to Lolla? It's become the suburban teenager festival in the Chicago area. The older (25+) crowds seemed to have moved on to Riot, Pitchfork, etc.

 

Metallica seems like a waste of money for Lolla in 2022, feel like they'd be a better investment for Riot Fest.
