The ending of Wild at Heart is such a tease. I was expecting them to break into some sort of instrumental/outro. Ughhhh!

This is maybe their weezeriest release yet. Not sure if that’s good or bad!

They’re on another one of their good streaks imo. OK Human, Van Weezer, and now this.

Didn’t love first listen but the good spots are really really good as mintplusplus alluded to.

Last song and the single my favorites on first listen

Maybe a lead in into the Summer one?? My ear definitely perked up

Think ‘sound of drums’ and ‘wild at heart’ were my favorites. Probably just a personal distaste for the Jack Johnsony influence but I enjoyed it overall

yeah I think Summer is meant to be a bit riffier

I feel like every song here has at least a moment or two I love like the switchup in Angels' bridge, but they just don't really come together as a whole. the melodies feel pretty uninspired too - did he straight up reuse the chorus of Trippin' Down the Freeway or did I imagine it lol

This wasn’t awful but it’s not really what I want from them either. OK Human felt like a better exploration of this sound for the most part. Not sure how much I’ll return to it.

This was my first thought too, peak Weezery Weezer. Kinda interested to revisit this once it really feels like spring and see if it clicks more

"angels on vacation" is pretty good. "wild at heart" is almost a good song; it reminds me of one of the more basic tracks on maladroit where all it needs is bit more lyrical effort. I like "opening night" too, but more as a joke song tbh

Let down with this new EP. This band is just all over the place haha.

    Van Weezer still rules though.

It's almost insulting how easy it is for Rivers to write an ear worm.

I don't know the shelf-life of these songs (Angels on Vacation is probably the best on first listen), but it feels like he can write a hell of a song in his sleep.

I like it a fair bit although kinda wish they went even harder on the Spring vibes, I think my favourite parts are when it's going for that sound.

It feels nice that Weezer is releasing music that is at least competently fun and catchy

    I listened to this again.

Some people were joking that A Little Bit of Love was written to be a TikTok sound but I honestly think the whole EP sounds like it was intended be cut into 10 second clips on TikTok. The vague lyrics about love, seeing friends, etc., the 10-20 second sequences with abrupt tone and pace shifts, and that generic sunny guitar strumming that’s on every royalty free song tagged as “happy” and “fun PowerPoint presentation.”

“Go viral on TikTok” sounds exactly like the kind of songwriting challenge that would activate the pop robot’s hard drive.
