Creepshow II, Cat's Eye, Tales from the Darkside, Tales from the Hood, Twilight Zone Movie (though not necessarily entirely horror), Nightmares (even though I only remember the Emilio Estevez segment)

As a whole it's better than Holidays, but the the good segments of Holidays are better than any part of Southbound

House of 1000 Corpses was way more fun than I remembered it being.

  8. Blair Witch has a handful of negative reviews now. A little less excited, but still hoping I like it.

So the Geralds Game adaptation is coming to Netflix and it sounds Hush doing so well for Flanagan is what gave them the confidence to pick it up.

The podcast The Canon did an episode this week on The Blair Witch Project. Really, really good convo.

I caught the first 15 minutes of that one time and really liked it. Don't know why I haven't gone back to it yet

It's on Netflix and it just keeps getting more insane as it goes, you should check out the rest!

    are we having fun yet?

i saw Simon Barrett post about that. is he the guest, or just the topic of discussion?

    "I'll chew on a dog!"

He is the guest. They talk a little about his film but it's mostly about TBWP. Everything from the filming, the press, the backlash, the process. Definitely one of The Canon's better episodes.

Stuck In Evil Mode For 31 Days Prestigious

Reading the Blair Witch Project piece on Broadly made me think why many found footage films are trash and one reason that sticks out for me is the lack of plausibility. Like BWP looks like trash but it at least looks believable. Many of the found footage films today look too staged, too polished and it hurts them. That and many of them are just not good.

  22. Raw sounds pretty cool. I'm usually not into the obvious gross out stuff, not that this sounds like strictly that.

and there are plenty of good found footage movies

I'd argue only a handful are actually good.

exploitation movies are a lot of fun imo. plenty of shit ones of course, plenty of really awful social implications with many (esp the rape/revenge storylines), and the differences between shit and good can be hard to tell, but classics like Texas Chainsaw Massacre couldn't exist without the cannibal exploitation genre
