You Got Spirit Kid is the worst song on an album full of some of Coheed's worst songs

Believe me, I want to love that album, but it stands out even worse for me than Year of the Black Rainbow

I absolutely like Color and YotBR better than Vaxis 1.

    Um that’s certainly a take

I think YOTBR has good songs, but the production team wasn't right for Coheed. Claudio's voice is also shot. Pretty sure he stopped smoking in between YOTBR and Afterman. The band was tired and worn out at that point, and I think you can hear it compared to the rejuvenated sound of Afterman (thank you Josh and Zach).

TCBTS' songs just aren't that good IMO. I know they were going for a straight forward approach, but even the poppy numbers aren't that catchy compared to the rest of Coheed's discog.

    No Fun. Not Ever.

YotBR at least has three songs that I actually revisit on there. I honestly don't think I've listened to anything from Color since it was released.

Year of the Black Raindbow is solid. It’s got some clunkers and the vibe is weird, but there are some strong songs on there still: The Broken, Juggernaut, Far, The Black Rainbow

Island is a banger for sure.

The Broken, Juggernaut, This Shattered Symphony, World of Lines, and In the Flame of Error, all rule, and would be even better with a re-record/remaster.

I'll add Made Out of Nothing to that list. Fucking love that song.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Made Out of Nothing. Pearl of the Stars is another really good one too

The Pavilion does what TCBTS was trying to do better than any of the songs on TCBTS, imo

Best song on TCBTS by a country mile is Atlas. I would have put Here To Mars up there as well if it weren’t for that cringey bridge lol

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

Atlas and Island are the standouts on there. My least favorite Coheed album, but still solid for what it is. YOTBR songs rip live, that album is just a mess production wise and just didn’t suit their sound at all.

    We're all here anyway, so

    Good Apollo
    IKS
    NWFT
    Afterman
    SSTB
    TUC
    YOTBR
    TCBTS

I feel like that's pretty normal for a big Coheed fan, other than SSTB and NWFT might be switched.

    No Fun. Not Ever.

Just did a re-listen on the La Zona Rosa version of "Everything Evil" and just love how they end their jam session with: "Thank you very much. That is what the British describe as 10 minutes of self indulgent prog wankering. We are wankers."

Every time you guys debate YOTBR it makes me go revisit it to see if I'll change my mind. And my opinion always stays the same lol. Really bad production, and a lot of boring/unmemorable songs. I do love Made Out of Nothing, though.

It's getting to the point where my least favorite Coheed album might be my most played on Spotify, simply because ya'll make me question my opinion of it hahaha

It's crazy so many of y'all single out Made Out of Nothing, I do not care for that one at all, and I think it's one of Claudio's most shaky performances on record.

I enjoyed most of TCBTS and don't really see it. Pavillion is over the top cringe in a way that only a handful of moments on TCBTS manage. Def a bottom 10 track in their discog and autoskip on every Vaxis playthrough (bring on the hate, I'm used to it).

Anyway, TCBTS is not particularly impressive and no one is going to put it among their best work, but I also don't get the hate. This is the same thread that was defending Blood Red Summer to the death a couple days ago. TCBTS is straightforward and leans very poppy, but they've had some equally or more boring straightforward songs sprinkled throughout their catalog that the fanbase loves.
