  2. Yep.

WI is probably the closest. If that flips, shit is going to suck.

  3. Those too young to remember Bush are destined to repeat it?

I'm telling you...it's Bernie Bros who never actually gave a shit about Bernie's policies, or literally had no idea what they were and were just for him because he was "anti-establishment" and not Clinton.

In other words, they're fucking morons who are voting for someone who would literally end social safety nets, because "not clinton".

It feels that way. More of "they're the same."

Taking all recent polls (since late August) that have data for both a 2 way race and 4 way race, this is the average:

    4-way: Clinton +1.4
    2-way: Clinton +3.2

    That's a pretty big difference.

ways gore could have beaten bush:

prevented ~340,000 florida democrats from voting for bush
campaigning like an intelligent human being
    winning his fucking home state
been a member of the supreme court
won literally 90 votes each from all of the other third parties on the florida ballot
tried to fight against systemic and incorrect disenfranchisement of thousands of florida voters

like yeah nader won a lot of people but theres a pretty high likelihood a lot of those people would have a) voted third party no matter what or b) stayed home if nader wasn't running

gore could have maybe kept his own house (party and home state) in line and then we wouldnt have this lazy, uninformed criticism of Who To Blame Because It Definitely Wasn't Gore Or Democrats

Some studies of that race put it at 40% would have broke for GOP, the other would have gone to Gore:
Indeed, we show that at least 40% of Nader voters in the key state of Florida would have voted for Bush, as opposed to Gore, had they turned out in a Nader-less election. The other 60% did indeed spoil the 2000 presidential elec- tion for Gore but only because of highly idiosyncratic circumstances, namely, Florida’s extreme closeness. Our results are based on studying over 46 million vote choices cast on approximately three million ballots from across Florida in 2000. More generally, the results demonstrate how bal- lot studies are capable of illuminating aspects of third party presidential voters that are otherwise beyond scrutiny.

Lots of interesting poli-sci came out of 2000. No real consensus ever formed. Interesting stuff though.

    Edit: Here's the other one.

  13. Hey that's what I said.

NH, WI, MI are the ones I want to see some new polls from.

Agreed about Corbyn. They were all challenging and relevant questions about equality in education and ensuring everyone is offered the chance to have the best education possible, regardless of ability or wealth. It's a real shame that May decided to talk about something else.

I'm hoping at some point in the future May decides to answer one of Angus Robertsons questions. I'm sure the people of Scotland are keen to know where they stand with regards to Brexit.

I think the point of contention is that the third party rhetoric asks nothing of the candidates. As in, Gore should have adopted some of Nader's policies, which would have won some of them over. Also, he should have fought for the disenfranchised African Americans.

Owen Smith jumping to the defence of Tony Blair during the Labour leadership debate tonight is very revealing. He appeared to be completely oblivious as to why people would boo and shout at the mention of Blair. The man is responsible for an illegal war in Iraq that led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, I think it's more than understandable why there would be a lot of abuse directed at him. It's just bizarre that Smith thinks it's a good look to defend Blair so passionately.

Well, I'd ask more from the candidate as well. Gore fucked up. But I also believe there's strong evidence to support the so called "spoiler effect," and I blame Gore for losing. Candidates should try and reach those voters and be less stupid (hard wish) and the inclusion of a third party can influence an election.

  21. If we're listing things that cost Gore Florida Nader getting votes is way toward the bottom of a long list. It contributed sure but I don't see why it deserves this primacy of criticism compared to all the other factors, except for typical liberal anti left sentiment

Also, elections aren't the beginning and end of political action. Nixon was to the left of Clinton. It wasn't because he had ideals, it was due to political activity on the ground. It becomes a self-filling prophecy if we think that a Trump victory means that there's little we can do.

I wouldn't be surprised if he paid Oz to say the testosterone thing.

"Oz also revealed that Trump, 70, currently takes prescription statins to manage his cholesterol and that his testosterone levels are above average. Trump also said he gets annual cancer screenings and hasn’t been to a hospital since he was 11 years old."

  24. 100% bet he did.

Also, no hospitals since he was 11 and yet got ... 5 medical deferments from Vietnam? Blah.
