Ohhhhh so rise thennn a 6 part closer. If the other 11 tracks are all 3-4 minute songs that’s going to be interesting

Haha, I think the only song I can objectively call a blight on that album is Al the Killer, and that's only because of the lyrics.

It's kinda boring when put up against some of the other songs on the album, but the bridge is top tier

Blood Red Summer is prettymuch how I got into the band. Heard that and Favor House Atlantic and I was sold

I think BRS is one of the most exciting songs on the album because it’s a little different from much of the rest of the album. It’s not trying to be this 7+ minute epic. It’s not trying to do crazy riffs or fills or weird time signatures/structures. It’s just pop rock and it helps bring more balance to the album. Hell, it’s one of my top five favorite songs on the album. It’s fucking awesome.

seeing coheed live a few weeks ago really hit home how much better the old "bops" are compared to the new ones though.

like the suffering really hits. favor house atlantic is immense. even "you got spirit kid" does more for me than shoulders, rise, and liars club. none of those three are bad per se, but they just aren't as good. If the album really is a bunch of 3 minute pop songs and a prog closer than I'm not super stoked, tbh

it’s my favorite coheed album most days. has several of their best songs. Unheavenly creatures, toys, love protocol, and the gutter are all top 10 coheed songs for me. Toys and love protocol are probably top 5.

Maybe it's just because you're more familiar with them?? Plus I don't think comparing a bluesy groove-oriented track like Shoulders or a prog-anthemic song like Rise to either of those is apples to apples. I really enjoyed the new songs live and thought they added nicely to the setlist. Also, Claudio has a hard time with the high tessitura of The Suffering and that takes me out of the song sometimes so although I love the song, I enjoy all 3 of the new songs live more than that one

Yes! I remember my sister and I making a 4 hour trip to see my brother in Tennessee when it first came out. We played Vaxis 1 on repeat the entire drive and it was time well spent.

Vaxis 1 is their best record (as a whole) in a long time and really recaptures the magic of their earlier run

Vaxis 2 looks to continue that trend so jump in now!

I mean there isn't a Coheed song I WOULDN'T belt out to but as far as that album goes, I'd rather listen to The Crowing or Three Evils or any of the Camper Velorium songs

You had me in the first half, but lost me at YGSK. I’d take any of the three singles over YGSK every day of the week.
