Its a really interesting song writing choice, and in every example I can think of her already abstract lyrics only become more mysterious and complicated. Just adding layers but never revealing everything.

I think its a jaw harp, if there's even a difference, and if I remember correctly its played by Adrianne's brother

 

It’s jaw harp and it’s played by her brother Noah. He played it when I saw her solo in Chicago last year.

I love a band that kicks ass live like this and takes advantages of that opportunity to experiment and debut new songs and alternate versions and stuff. Now they just have to let us tape :)

actually in person, no, but i have seen more than a handful of videos. maybe in the actual room it’s different but it comes across as very distracting and odd

 

I find Buck to be charming tbh, he’s a great player and his sense of feel is incredible. if his odd stance and constant swaying is what feels right for him, then so be it. I’d much rather that than him force a more traditional stance and lose his trademark feel/style, I think ultimately that’s what’s important. I feel like the band’s live presence would feel way stiffer without it.

to be fair, I definitely do understand where you’re coming from. he is hard to not watch bc compared to everyone else he’s doing the most.
