It's the cruel cruel reality of my life

 

I was drinking at a buddies one night and he and like 5 other guys had been deep sea fishing earlier in the day. They said they were going to grill some of the dolphin they caught. I'm thinking to myself I must have misunderstood what he just said. I'm sitting quietly and once they have it prepped they say dolphin again.

I freak out saying "Eating dolphin has to be ILLEGAL! You're not supposed to murder or eat Dolphins!" It's wasn't a real dolphin it was one of these things:



I still haven't heard the end of it.

 

don't worry the first time I saw dolphin on a menu I thought the same thing, just call it Mahi-Mahi that's it's name, no need to confuse us

 

WHY WOULD ANYONE CALL MAHI MAHI DOLPHIN?

Strombolis are the superior pizza sandwich

 

+1 for Strombolis. Notta ricotta fan.

 

New Haven has this weird thing where they call pizza "apizza."

Wikipedia has this to say: "In a New Haven-style pizzeria, a "plain" pizza is crust, oregano, and tomato sauce with a little bit of grated pecorino romano cheese sprinkled on. Mozzarella (known as "mootz" in the local Italian dialect) is considered to be a topping; a customer who wants it must ask for it.What makes New Haven style pizza distinct is its thin, oblong crust, characteristic charring, chewy texture, and limited use of melting cheeses. It tends to be drier and thinner than, but closely related to, traditional New York style"

I hate everything about it.

 

Honestly I have never had pizza in New Haven, I'm not sure if I've spent any time there actually. I have had Frank Pepe's in Mohegan and it was good, but a clam sauce sounds gross to me despite its accolades so I just got pepperoni

 

Pepe's is New Haven style pizza so if you've had that you know what it is. It's not bad but it's the only pizza I have available to me and I'm not a huge fan of it.

 

Western Mass has a lot of great family owned pizza places, so when we are looking to order delivery we have at least 6 or 7 local options. I love it

 

HOW NICE FOR YOU

I grew up in Chicago so New Haven pizza is the antithesis of what I want.

 

When I had pizza in NYC I almost cried. Nothing down here comes close. I don't know what the place was called but the inside was tiny and packed so you basically ordered and waited outside until they yelled your number. I could have eaten pizza the whole time I was there.

 

I feel your pain. There is no good pizza where I live. I've never been to NYC but pizza is top priority when I go.
