Well they really managed to drag that out while simultaneously sucking all of the emotion from it.

 

I thought this one could at least be forgettable, but the second the "chorus" hits the thing is straight shit.

Turned it off once it started remixing the song. So much nope.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one REALLY not digging the cover. Like I guess they brought their own thing to it but, it's def not for me. Like fuck, all the emotion of the original is just sucked out it feels.


I'm still excited about the rest of the covers, this was the one I was least anticipating anyway because I'm not really a 21 pilots fan.

 

I saw the 21 pilots thread was bumped and the few comments so far def differ from these!

 

Their fans are horrendous.

 

Also I'm still really skeeved off by the Living With Ghosts album coming out. It seems way more like a label cash grab than from them, unless I'm crazy. Gerard said something about not really being involved in it when announcing it right? And $35 seems pretty steep.

 

I definitely wouldn't expect Gerard or anyone from MCR to have anything to do with this comp.

 

I like TOP but yeah the cover is not good.

 

On second listen, actually I don't mind it really haha.

 

I thought the cover was okay. Not great, but still decent. I like that they gave it their own twist rather than just imitating the original. They could have done without repeating those two lines forever, but Tyler's voice fits the vibe of the song in my opinion.

 

Listened to the whole tribute album and 21 pilots is by far the worst song on it, so kind of glad we got it out of the way. The rest range from "meh" to "decent". One of my favorites on it is probably This Is How I Disappear, a decent way of mixing up a cover a bit and making it your own while still retaining some original feelings to it.

Oh actually Craig Mabbit's la la la's on Dead! are pretty bad. But that's about it.

 

I'm always happy to add new reasons for hating TOP.

 

Unsurprisingly the best band on this BY FAR. The only cover I'm looking forward to hearing.

 

I know nothing about MCR, cept what my oldest daughter likes.... But I bet she likes the TOP version of the song, since she likes them too... oh well!

 

Damn, I thought that part was never going to end. It sounded so bad. The cover in itself is quite similar to the original though, so they didn't ruin it as much as I was expecting.

 

That Moose Blood cover is unreal. I think I like it better than the original (which is my least favourite song on The Black Parade to be fair). Eddy managed to make it sound even more whiny than it already was, haha.

Overall I'd say the covers are pretty decent apart from two or three of them. I think a lot of people are put off by the fact that the production on TBP was top-notch and elaborate, whereas here they all sound a bit flat.

 

Yeah I absolutely love that cover. Unsurprisingly.
