God it must be so disheartening to be Zelensky or any of the military leadership, trying to help will your people to fight, while hoping against hope that someone is going to come to your and your country’s aide, knowing it’s not going to happen, and that you’re probably going to die.

So depressing.

To be honest, I really didn't think Russia would launch an invasion like this until last night when it actually did seem imminent. It just seemed so irrational for someone to try this when it really wouldn't help Russia at all, wasn't particularly popular, and would lead to worldwide condemnation/sanctions. Surrounding the border, declaring those two separatist regions independent, and maybe sending some troops there seemed like it would serve Putin's main purpose: threaten Ukraine and the West by showing what force could be used against them if they abandon neutrality. Scare them a bit, but there clearly wasn't any urgent threat to Russia or Russians, so there would be no logical reason to invade.

Going through with an invasion like this is absolute lunacy (in addition to merely being evil) and still can't really believe Putin actually went through with it

 

Putins wanted Ukraine back forever. I don't think he has plans beyond that.

 

Where could Zelensky/others potentially lead a guerilla insurgency resistance from? Are the Carpathian mountains a realistic hiding place that they could successfully hide from the Russians and make decisions and attacks and etc?

 

Just booked a cruise with my fam for next February, perhaps bold of us to assume the world will still be functioning then?

I'm a bit confused by the Trump/Republican argument regarding this whole crisis: is Biden too weak because he didn't bring Armageddon to Russia before they invaded, or is he coming on too strong and giving Putin enough a break because he's fundamentally a good dude and a "genius." It doesn't seem like it could be both, right? Right?

For real, though, how do people fall for this garbage?
