Someone I've been seeing on and off pretty casually for a few months now on the off chance we are both bored on vday

 

I'd say go for it; it's not really a downer film by any means, but instead in a reflection on what millennials/millennial couples often go through and think about today, especially females, and will provide plenty of conversation topics afterwards to reflect on

 

Yeah, if you're looking for something light to make you feel good, I would go for something else. I say that from experience of choosing the worst date movies possible.

 

Asking a date to read subtitles is risky.

 

I try to watch subtitles with every movie I watch now

 

This was fantastic. Though I thought just about every scene with Eivind was way more engrossing than anything with Aksel.

I would hesitate to watch this with a SO out of potential fear of the awkwardness of moments in the movie closely paralleling conversations/arguments that you’ve had with them irl

 

A full blown 5/5 film. The vibe switch in the second half tore my heart into pieces. Can’t wait to see this again.

 

Very good movie, the last half hour did bum me out though and I wish it went another way. The dream sequence was magical.

 

Definitely got real emotional, but I really enjoyed it.

Finally got to see this! Really good, much sadder than I expected.

 

This was fine. It is nice to see Trier go back home and in his natural habitat, but outside of some of the stylistic flourishes and the title, it felt somewhat tired. Trier deserves a lot of credit for not hanging from the Antonioni-Bergman tree that 99 percent of the European arthouse descends from, but the step forward that seemed to be coming after Reprise and Oslo still hasn't come.

 

finally got around to seeing this and thought it was lovely. lot of stuff hit little to close to home.

 

Crazy with all the buzz this film got in the last few months, it still didn't win best foreign film

 

It would be really weird if Drive My Car lost considering it was nominated for the "real" Oscar and this wasn't. Same goes for animated films or documentaries. It makes the whole thing really anticlimactic.

 

My heart skipped and I had a physical reaction when I glanced at this and thought it said they were remaking this starring Lily-Rose Depp
