Can second this. Went to the november 13th joji concert there, me and my girlfriend got there right when doors opened, the line outside was scattered so it took like 40 minutes just to get into the place and almost missed the opener. When we got in, we were in the far back, could barely see shit and they overcrowded the whole fucking place we couldn't even move even in the far back. Getting out of the venue and trying to uber to barcade after the show was a disaster too. Webster Hall 100% my favorite venue in the city from the ones i've been to so far, i'm moving to Manhattan in June so we will see if that changes lol

If anyone in Brooklyn needs to get a rapid test, just went to the Brooklyn public library by grand army plaza and there was no line, out in under 10 mins. Passed a bunch of places with block long lines so figured I’d share.

the show was tonight and is one of the best I’ve ever played. This room is absolutely insane

I’ve been for two shows now and I think it popped up over the pandemic because I had never heard of it. bar area with booths, tables, and a pool table on the first floor - venue/stage upstairs. I was a big fan.

  10. The sound/acoustics are awful but I’ve had so many dope fucking nights at Starland Ballroom. I got a concussion seeing New Found Glory there so maybe not that one lmao and I really love Music Hall of Williamsburg.

I went to The Fall of Troy at Brooklyn Monarch recently & really liked it a lot. Supposedly it's 1000 cap but it feels smaller than that. It's mostly an open warehouse, & has a really cool outdoor garden area, whether you're a smoker or just want to get outside.

A really cool one I've only been to once is Sony Hall. 1,000 cap, it's in the basement of the Paramount Hotel & was a vaudeville theater that opened in the 30s. Sony bought it in like 2018 & left it largely untouched, it really feels like a time machine.

  13. Does anyone have a good source for a compiled list of events, particularly art/music/small theater?

We're close enough to the city to go in for an evening on a whim, but it always feels like such a chore going to like half a dozen websites to get a sense of what our impromptu options are.

DoNYC is usually pretty good. Another option is NYC on the cheap if you're specifically looking for free/cheap things to do during a very specific time period

@Now:Navigate! I know you specifically said you didn't want a million sites lol but I get emails from www.theskint.com and it's another good site dedicated to free/cheap things going on in the immediate future

I can't recall anything specifically standing out different from anywhere else. Make sure you bring good earplugs, both times I've been were the 2 loudest shows I've ever been to & it was painful while wearing earplugs

  22. cool cool. I'll skip the flask for my first time to be safe, but this is definitely the impression I've gotten.

Thanks! I actually just replaced my plugs after one of them started rattling, and only used them for Proper/Maneka at Baby's so far, so I'm glad they'll get a real test while I'm still in the return window.

Just got done listening to the new Proper for the first time & loved it, how were they??

  24. So good! Pretty effortless-looking and honest stage presence, and loads of fun. They weren't as tight with the new material yet as they are on their most popular ones, but songs like "Ganymede" still really captivated the room (which was mostly there for Maneka headlining) and honestly I was probably the most impressed by their reactions to mistakes big and small.

Nothing's announced yet but they made vague mention of NY show(s) in August, so fingers crossed :)

Was just there for Glassjaw. They make you put your pocket stuff into a little bin, and then step through a metal detector. Pretty quick and seamless.
