we have a “close” group of friends that had started spending less time together in the year before the pandemic started due to kids and shit, but we’ve kept in touch because I play video games with two of them. And we were all able to see each other a handful of times between like May and November of this past year. We’ve all been on lockdown from each other since omicron took over but hoping we can hang out soon

I feel this in a big way too. We moved into our first house right when things started, and we've had virtually no opportunity to get into the community in a meaningful way. Never knew how much I'd long to just be a Regular at a Place in Town, where I sometimes cultivate my casual friendships :(

And paradoxically, I feel like I've had a lot of connections thrust upon me via early pandemic bubbles, and some would-be casual friendships in my life have taken on the complexion of closer ones, but with little or no scaffolding. Makes me worry about salvaging the casual part later.

  3. Are y’all setting your thermostat at 65 to save money or do you just prefer living like mr. freeze

Save money. First cold month I had a $168 heat bill so I went from 68 to 65

Yeah if I'm at home, I have a fleece robe, sweatpants and slippers on at all times. Mid 60s ain't too bad at all, even if I'd sometimes prefer 70.

It's warm today and my bedroom is at a toasty 68 right now and I hate it

I graduated from college in December and I've been looking for a job and it's been fucking brutal because it would be my first "real" job so I have basically no experience. I've been working in the same retail store since 2014 and it's the only job I've ever had so I really need to lean on my education and skills in my resume and cover letters instead of my work experience which I think is the reason I haven't really heard back from anyone. I was really hoping I could avoid an internship because I'm about to turn 26 but I'm getting pretty tired of seeing even "entry level" jobs requiring years of experience

My girlfriend is in the process of hiring someone and her director and manager are looking at giving it to a person who is super overqualified 20 years experience over a college grad. It's really frustrating given she had the same position straight out of college and I know what it pays.

Good guy, but a bad dude

Ticks are fucking awful in PA. Never noticed them much until last year when I’d find them on my dogs face when he went out in the yard. Thought I had a zit on my ribs one day, went to go look at it and sure enough one of those ugly little shits was attached to me.

  23. Grew up in the woods and had to check for ticks all the time, don’t really have to do that anymore living in the city

We had walking paths at my old job we would walk during the day. Before the company got bought they were great about clearing them of plants. Last time I walked back there, I guess I walked through a tick nest. Was covered in baby ticks to the point where I just threw out my clothes lol.

Chiggers are also a nightmare. Spent a week with them living under my skin.

Yeah I have an irrational or maybe rational fear about ticks. Had an ex who I went hiking with and after words we stopped to grab a beer and she had a tick start walking down the side of her face out of her hair...absolutely terrifying. I also learned that here in Michigan and I think in many places in the States that ticks are really prevalent by the beach and in sand/sand dunes.
