  6. Regarding suburbia, the first thing my dad told me about his new neighbors was that they were Hispanic. Why is that important information? Suburbans are racist.

If I’m home and hanging out downstairs, 72. We have drafty windows. At bedtime, we turn it to 67.

I know most aren’t 100% serious when they say it but two things I just cannot even remotely get behind that some people on the left say is to ban cars and ban single family homes. Sorry but I would like to live somewhere with my own backyard and don’t need to rely on public transit to get to wherever I need to go.

What is the rationale for banning single-family homes..? Absolutely get rid of the discriminatory and exlusionary zoning laws, but I don't see why the leap is then made to get rid of all single-family homes... You can get rid of the single-family zoning laws without necessarily getting rid of the single family houses in that area, no? That part doesn't make sense to me. Am I misunderstanding how the zoning laws work?

In changing the zoning laws you take away roadblocks and remove invisible insidious barriers for people going forward, but where does the banning single family homes part come in? Is it just like a 'we fucked this up so badly just burn it all down and start over' type of thing?

No one is saying to ban single family homes I don’t know where this is coming from

67 degrees during the day, 64 at night :ok:

Of course, that's me caving into my fiance lol I'd be cool with 70 during the day. I agree with her on keeping it cool during our sleep though. Love being bundled up in blankets

from the context, I don't think anyone was suggesting banning single family homes. just banning zoning laws that only allow single family homes in some areas. which we 100% should do.

Don't want to speak for the person who actually said it, but saying "we should absolutely ban single family homes" seems pretty clear cut lol

    That I absolutely agree with.

Learning about zoning laws was a huge eye opener for me. I can remember being younger and taking pride in the fact that I was from Massachusetts when I would see a YouTube video about a place like Harrison, Arkansas, for example. Honestly, I get embarrassed just thinking about it now.

On the house temp thing, you gotta keep the thermostat 60 or below no matter what the temp is outside. Here's a photo of me casually walking through my living room a few minutes ago:

  19. My personal opinion is that some (a lot) of the doctors and virologists that got very popular on social media over the past few years will continue to need to share any and all “scary” things in the world to keep up their engagement and followers and it’ll lead to outsized panic over things that probably have low probabilities of ever being close to as worrisome as the amount of fear they’ll stoke.

Generally have heat set to keep the apartment at 68 but I've been turning the heat up to 71 for a couple hours most days, it has been super fucking cold in Mass the last month and a half.

My newish apartment has a Nest and I hate it though. Our electric bill is insane (twice as much as our last year apartment down the street) and I can't figure out why, I'm assuming it's either the nest or super inefficient lightbulbs or something.

Separate thought but what I've read elsewhere on ba2 seems not that worrisome? Suggested that the makeup is so close to omicron, so if we are seeing a decline in cases/hospitalization outcomes due to how pervasive omicron was 6 weeks ago, this shouldn't stop that trend.

I’ve been feeling this lately. My social life was really active 2018 through the beginning of 2020. If the virus dropped off the face of the earth tomorrow and I could suddenly get that life back, it wouldn’t matter because I’ve lost touch with so many of those people.
