Hi yall


My roommate (Iphone X) had her phone stuck on the apple logo, i did some research and saw it was likely due to full storage, she said she was getting warnings about it. We connected the phone to her macbook, did recovery mode and installed a new update on her phone. Her phone started again but its slow and taking longer to open apps, my guess is that it is still loading everything on the phone? Any ideas what she can do?

Shes freaking out because she doesnt have a backup of her phone and doesnt want to lose everything.

 

back it up to the computer you used to update the software.

 

yeah did that, I forgot she also just got a new ipad. Phone is 5 months old she may just have to get a new one.

Oh, Apple Music... you frustrate the hell out of me sometimes. I don't know who to blame for this and know this isn't new but the constant splitting off of some songs on an album into single/compilation/deluxe versions is absolutely maddening.

I added this entire album on Friday and now it looks like this (pic #1). This is a rare example of the album just disappearing from Apple Music but it usually just randomly decides to do it (pic #2)

 

Oh this absolutely maddening. Albums that I've had in my library for years will on occasion do this. You can react to it and fix it by naming the whole album say, "Mercury & Lightening2", update it, then change it back.

For the life of me I don't know why music has this problem when everything is tagged correctly.

 

I just got a Keychron K2 keyboard for my MacBook. First time using a mechanical keyboard and I really like it! Typing on my MacBook keyboard feels super weird now

 

I have a k2, and it takes some getting used to. feel like I make more typing mistakes but its great

 

I have dove into the world of mechanical keyboards over the past year and using a MacBook keyboard will never feel the same

 

Updated my iMac to 12.3 Beta (21E5212f) yesterday and it fucked up my f keys... hitting volume down pulls the screen down, mute brings up source code stuff, volume up does nothing. Unchecking the box that should fix this in settings does nothing. Fun times!

 

Since this is the more active tech thread in here, figured I'd ask real quick. Does anyone have NordVPN and have issues with download speeds? I connect to Canada, and it takes a good 30 seconds to stream Netflix in full HD on my phone. I don't have this problem with the VPN off on my phone.

Saw they had a deal to lock in for 2 years at $3.49/month and it seemed like a steal, but I can always cancel within 30 days if there are faster options out there...

 

yeah I have NordVPN and no problem. Maybe try another server?

 

Interesting, I'll have to mess around and try some other countries. It's a bummer that 4K content especially drags on Netflix on my TV.

Do you have it set up on your router? I haven't bothered looking into how to do that yet, I just use the app on my phone and Android TV

 

no we all just use the app, no router, mostly my dad to tunnel into Hungary to watch Soccer games.

you can expect speeds to take a hit when using VPN though as you're adding a whole other server to the mix. I wouldn't expect full fat 4k to work through a VPN. (your phone probably displays 1080p videos)

 

Something I've never quite understood about Apple Music on Mac is that randomly, songs that I've downloaded locally (for offline use) sometimes become un-downloaded, what is the rhyme or reason? lol

Are the Airs powerful enough for multi-track layered recording nowadays? I have a 2015 but it's time for an upgrade. It worked okay for my purposes (recording demos in Logic) but it started to crash and get realllll slow after you had about 15-20 or so tracks going...

I have a weird thing going on with my wife’s Apple Watch. It’s been doing this over a year. The watch is already unpaired. And in her watch app there aren’t any watches associated with her phone. So when she tries to pair the watch again it stays stuck on checking for updates. Usually it just stays there with no progress. We have gotten it to update a couple of times but then it updates and then checks for updates again and we just get stuck in the loop. It’s a series 4. Any one have any insight?

 

Finally went in on the lg 5k monitor, looks good. Not sure if I really need the 5k or if I can tell much of a difference between 4k at this point but w/e it's mostly reimbursed from work. I'm an idiot though and wasn't paying attention when I got the keyboard with touch ID to note that it said for apple silicon devices. Need to return the keyboard besides that anyways, realized I really don't want to put in the effort of adapting back to a full size keyboard (specifically with the arrow key placement).
It's been so long since I've used a normal sized monitor since I've been using laptops for the past 7 or so years, it's very refreshing.

 

if anyone has any computer chair recommendations let me have 'em!

 

What’s everyone’s thoughts on the QD OLED monitors? The Alienware one is the first to market next month.
