Like I’m not gonna lie, it sure is a look to be mad about being unable to cut a woman’s face in a game and not a good look either.

I know it’s been mentioned elsewhere but I think a viable option would be to give people the ability to skip it like the scene at the airport in CoD. Give people the choice.

I think this is the best option too

I absolutely think Sony is in the wrong and don’t believe in censoring games like that

Nintendo does it all the time or at least they used to

Private companies can choose what content they want on their own platforms. It’s not censorship, it’s curation.

Nintendo fancies themselves as a kid friendly platform where an over the top horror game wouldn’t fit anyway. I mean, you’ve already whittled the argument down to people being against clearly having some sick fetish of wanting to saw a persons face off or whatever

So excuse me if I don’t believe you’re arguing in good faith here. I just think if you’re going to change the player action to a cut scene you’ve completely missed the point and must have some outdated belief about player control of violence in video games having some real world implications which is an outdated and incorrect mode of thinking. I mean, you’ve been able to mow down innocent civilians in GTA (and many other) games for a couple decades now, if player action in video games had real world implications we would be fucked. Good thing it doesn’t.

Just because a private company can do whatever they want doesn’t mean it isn’t a form of censorship. It’s not free speech but it is changing the work of an artist (or development team) to fit it to your own standards. Call it curation if you want but they’re literally censoring the work so it can go on the platform. I don’t think it’s as big of a deal as people are making it out to be but I do believe it’s stupid and pointless that they’re doing it. Clearly I’m the only one here who thinks so I’ll just shut my mouth about it before people think I’m a sicko who likes sawing peoples faces off or whatever

They could always refuse to even allow the game on their platform as well. They control it. I just really don’t ever use the word censorship unless the government is doing it. Banning books from school libraries is censorship. This is just Sony deciding what content it does and doesn’t want on its platform. People can disagree with their decision for various reasons but it’s not censorship.

It’s no different than Twitter banning Donald Trump. That’s not censorship, it’s just them deciding what they do and don’t want on their platform

Had to look up the scene and it seems pretty par for the course as far as horror games go. It's not clear what specifically is considered "too far" unless they put it through testing and were getting specific feedback to remove it, which idk if they did.

Is the game any good? I wouldn't have heard of it otherwise lol

Yeah if anything this is going to give these devs a lot of free press and sales. They should be thanking Sony lol

I don’t believe the government is the only entity in the world that can take place in censorship, it’s just the only one with legal implications. Walmart literally only sells censored versions of albums at their stores. That’s what they call those versions because it’s a form of censorship. Seems like a semantics argument at the end of the day because regardless I think Sonys altering of the game is pointless. But it’s absolutely free press for the devs and they’re gonna benefit it and I absolutely think they’re playing it up from the censorship angle to their advantage.

Not as into horror games as I was when I was younger. I've been debating whether or not to get Village, also just partly because I haven't played a lot of resident evil.

I'm guessing it stands on its own without having to have had played the previous ones?

If you want an RE game that isn’t as scary the remake of 3 is a good option to get warmed up.

village whips ass, no prior knowledge required, an RE7 recap will give you some context but is optional

Walmart does sell unedited music now though, all their vinyl is and I’ve seen stickered CDs at my local store. Not tearing down your point though.

There’s some connection to 7 and characters from previous games, but you can play it perfectly fine without having played any of the previous games.

Although I stand by my option as a compromise, I also think you know what you are getting into when you start a horror game and all the potential things you may encounter.

It’s not like there is a G rated version of Halloween, etc…

It really is wild to go into a Walmart in 2022 and see PA stickered albums for sale, much too late but still wild.
