Found a music project playlist that explains in an entertaining way through music of all sorts of decades, everything that is wrong with the music industry nowadays. Might be interessting for some of you.

    A short guide:
    - Pay attention and listen to the lyrics
    - Keep in mind that every song out there was written by someone who tied the lyrics to experiences of some kind
    - Some songs are either linked together as in some children's rhymes or building up ontop of eachother (over time)
    - All of them tell a continious story
    - The beginning takes a while to set up the stage for what comes thereafter
    - The playlist explains everything otherwise anyway

    Introduction (song 1-42)
Various chapters thereafter (you will understand the messages)
latest around song 113 you should realise the first main problems with music
and from there on there is a lot to hear out about well... you will see. still shocked.

    Hope you will enjoy it

So I'm hoping someone might be able to help me, and I didn't know what other thread to turn to.

Up until now I've been using a website called FunkySouls, specifically their FunkyReleases page, to find out about upcoming albums and also go back through time and find stuff I've missed.

Unfortunately they're currently down, maybe permanently, because it's my understanding their servers are in Ukraine and well, you know.

Anyway, if it is permanent, it means I need to find an alternative resource. I do use other resources here and there, but they're not always that great, especially when it comes to finding independent bands in other countries. I mean, there's plenty of resources for punk and indie rock groups, but nothing super substantial I've come across for say, post-grunge and alternative metal.

I listen to a lot of different stuff and the great thing about FunkyReleases is that they tracked pretty much everything.

Does anyone know of any alternative that I can turn to?

Maybe not exactly the same but Genius.com has calendar pages that list every album that came out in a month going back quite a while. Usually what I used to keep track of new releases every week

Here's the one for this month for example

    Thanks.

I did find that in my searching and while certainly comprehensive, I can tell that it doesn't go deep enough into the genres I'd like, and it doesn't clearly indicate what genres an artist covers either.

I do appreciate the attempt though.

So I posted this example elsewhere, but I'm going to do it here too.

This is an example of how FunkySouls looked.

    Февраля 2018 :: FunkyReleases

I'm looking for anything like this. The closest I found were the release dates posts that Uproxx makes, but even then they just shit out a bunch of names and don't bother to indicate what any of them sound like.

I'm starting to get a little anxious over this, frankly. I never considered that such a valuable resource would just vanish overnight, and now I'm freaking out a little because I had every intent to go through my playlists and hunt for things I was missing, and now I can't.

Like, is it really 2022 and there is no easy resource for this kind of information? It seems like something that should be super readily available.

I have a song in my head. It's been in my head for four hours, I've searched everywhere. For four hours. I can't do this. I give up.

It's minimalist, kinda electronic, male singer, kinda subdued vocals but not quite to a shoegaze level. I thought it was Dripping Down by East India Youth but it's not. Might be in the same general sound family though. Lyrics all I remember is the word "down" or maybe it rhymes with down lol. Please help i am dying

I was on Alternative Press’s website and…when did they start covering more non-punk/women/LGBTQ/etc. music? It’s not a bad thing I was just shocked to see interviews with Nilufer Yanya, Shamir, and news about Belle & Sebastian, Charli XCX, Alice Glass, etc. on there

I jumped on a plan w folks when everybody was bailing on Spotify and I’m not sure why I didn’t switch years ago. The user experience is much messier than Spotify, but it sounds so so so so much better. Going back to Spotify since (which i still have to use for work) I’m finding Spotify very fatiguing

  21. And re-save all the music I’ve saved and put into playlists over the last 15 years or whatever? No thanks.

Which i haven’t done yet and i’m kind of annoyed to have to do, but ya like, it sounds drastically better. The user experience is kinda rocky but the sound quality is such a shocking step up, I’ve been finding it worth the compromise

I'm going to be honest, I thought they broke up a long time ago. I mean, their last album was in 2014.

It's still a shame, but I think this has been a long time coming.
