Amanda's blog post is real good. It's kind of weird that harassment of anyone within the Magic community doesn't automatically lead to a DQ + ejection from the event.

It's been cool to see the general community really standing up to issues like this though. Or at least from the higher ups like TCGPlayer and the mothership site. Between the very direct statements regarding "creaturelands" and the TCGPlayer statement, it's nice to see that even in these historically gross dude ridden environments some positive change is being made

Hey everyone! One of our team members wrote an awesome blog on former Disney-channel star, Bella Thorne, and why how she came out as bisexual is so important. We're committed to ending the bi-erasure.

  16. The NC GOP's response to the NCAA was... interesting.

“This is so absurd it’s almost comical,” North Carolina Republican Party spokesperson Kami Mueller said in a statement Monday. “I genuinely look forward to the NCAA merging all men’s and women’s teams together as singular, unified, unisex teams. Under the NCAA’s logic, colleges should make cheerleaders and football players share bathrooms, showers and hotel rooms. This decision is an assault to female athletes across the nation. If you are unwilling to have women’s bathrooms and locker rooms, how do you have a women’s team?”

“I wish the NCAA was this concerned about the women who were raped at Baylor,” the statement continued. “Perhaps the NCAA should stop with their political peacocking — and instead focus their energies on making sure our nation’s collegiate athletes are safe, both on and off the field.”

Every time I hear "women's safety" used as anti-trans rhetoric I want to fucking scream.

Those that mouth that rhetoric wouldn't be caught dead ever considering Trans safety.

    Hollow double-speak from true assholes

That first comment is utter horseshit but they were right about one thing - the NCAA didn't do shit to Baylor.

But it's deflecting, like when Trump says lgbtq people are mistreated in the middle East when his VP wants to convert them

Oh yeah, without a doubt. There is no sincerity in their concern at all, just telling them to go target someone else that's also doing something wrong. No amount of words can make me believe that party sincerely cares about women or the LGBTQ+ community. I suppose I was just surprised that they deflected to something actually correct since most of the time they don't.

  22. Not sure if there are many other people from Australia on here, but our government is planning on holding a plebiscite on same sex marriage. Pro and anti campaigns will be funded ($7.5 million to each side... paying to justify homophobia!!!) and aired on television and advertised. It's already frightening to see comments and the campaigns haven't even started yet. Oh yeah, the plebiscite is non-legally-binding, so there'll be months of hate and the government can turn around and decide they're not changing the law.

Feeling very stressed and upset about it. Not much I can do other than look after myself and look after my friends and anyone else I see struggling

:( hugs. i hate how the fallacy of the middle ground leads us to do shit like this, where suddenly hateful speech is justified because suddenly presumably the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

The marriage referendum here was so stressful but very life affirming when we got the yes vote. One of the best days of my life.
