Good guy, but a bad dude

In for OG cast. Certain it’ll be shit but I can’t say no to seeing the three of them back

I looked this up and apparently in promo materials for the previous movies it was stated that the dinosaurs used to make Jurassic World actually came from Site B. Site B is now completely abandoned.

    Regular

Seems watchable enough, though after the previous two my expectations are about as high as the Permian sedimentary layer.

This preview makes the movie look pretty cool, and I did get giddy when Sam Neil showed up on screen, but I didn't see the second Jurassic World movie and I can't help but thinking that the plot for the kids' show on Netflix that my son loves - Camp Cretaceous - would have been a much, much better story for these movies to tell than Jurassic World and these two follow-ups.

I kinda like Jurassic World, it's not good but it's fun. Really hated the direction the second one went, those rumors were out there for like a decade and I feel like the reaction was so bad every time, still not sure why they felt so compelled to do it.

So where is Justice Smith and the nerdy girl from Fallen Kingdom? There’re on the wiki but no where in the trailer. Only cameos?

My dino obsessed son went wild watching the trailer and at 36 who still remembers going to see the original I can't wait to take him.

I don't know why everyone is so down on Jurassic World. It wasn't as good as the OG (and probably not Lost World either), but it was pretty entertaining. Fallen Kingdom was terrrrrrible and the direction the took was so stupid.

Yeah JW is bad but I’ve come around to it. It’s fun at least

The last half hour of Jurassic World is fun enough to mostly make up for the first hour and a half.

At the time, I was just happy to finally have another Jurassic movie after fourteen years, but my esteem for it has drastically dwindled in the years since.

I definitely don't hate Jurassic World, I would say I like it. It's definitely fun. It's about on par with Jurassic Park III for me. It's kinda cool and you get to see big-budget CGI dinosaurs. It's not even in the same conversation as the original JP, and I don't think it's as good as The Lost World, although TLW should have been better coming from Spielberg himself.

My biggest fault on Jurassic World is that for most of the runtime, the direction / filmmaking is just so pedestrian, like it's actively trying to be as unexciting as possible, and then it does end up being fun by the end almost in spite of itself. Eventually everything that's happening on screen ends up being fun, but it's hard not to see the whole thing and think about all of the missed opportunities.

A quick example is the way the Jurassic Park gate is shown at the beginning of the movie. Think about what a powerful moment that is in the original and how that scene feels, and then look at the way JW just kinda tosses in a quick insert from an awkward angle that looks very obviously CGI'd. It almost feels as if they forgot to shoot anything with the gate but realized at the last minute and just had someone whip up a quick insert on the computer. It's either that, or it was a deliberate choice to almost ironically just play the gate off as no big deal, which is just fucking stupid and a bad decision but seems like something that Trevorrow might do.

I realize it is apples to oranges, but seriously, the Netflix show about the kids at the camp actually tells such a good story and gets into some things I never thought it would.

  23. Despite the bad CGI, I like the show a lot too!

I remember reading a review that kind of nails it for JW. It's a fun time that tricks you into thinking it's self-aware of the blockbuster trends in hollywood (bigger, louder, more teeth), but then it doesn't really commit to that by the end and just ends up being the very thing it's winking at.

In the end, it's very schlocky, but it's still one of the most fun theater experiences I can remember.

Everything about JW is just bland, which I think is worse than being outright terrible like Fallen Kingdom. Pratt and Howard's characters are straight-up nothings who have no chemistry. D'Onofrio is a fun enemy only because he's D'Onofrio and of course he's gonna take his character from a weird angle. The only characters besides him that seem to be having fun are Lapkus and Jake Johnson. The kids suck and the babysitter getting killed is oddly mean.
