    Turn in your direction
    Feeling like I need attention
Told you this once or twice
    Won't you hear?
I see you in the yard, drinking a beer
    Leaving me undressed
    Like some cheap classic movie
    Maybe I'm a little obsessed
    Maybe you do use me

Swirling wall of sound music like “Little Things”, “Flower of Blood” and “Jenni” is my favorite genre of music. I’ve decided.

An album like this also recontextualizes all of their other albums. I’ve gone back to the other ones, which I already loved, but now there are more dots connected, it’s like finding new constellations in the stars or taking a step back from a painting and appreciating the totality of it all.

I think the only place is my favorite non-single. Just unreal songwriting.

  18. much rather read this than whatever the fuck that was

  19. Yeah the problem here is too many white dude music writers not any group of people's association with big thief lmfao

  20. since the last time Big Thief put out a record I went from white dude music writer to white non-binary music writer, hope I still get a pass lol

it also seems like Inventing a Guy. who is attacking people for saying Big Thief is fine? this entire drama seems manufactured and dumb, but I agree, there should be way more space for non-white straight dudes to speak up about the band

  22. also yeah this is out over here and even though I've had it for a month I'm excited to dive back in again tomorrow, how does that even work??

If the convo were about getting more writers who aren’t white dudes into major publications, hell yeah I’d support that. Not that Big Thief caters to a “bro rock” fanbase or whatever lol.
I’d be happy to read criticism of the album. What I’m reading is a lot of “they’re fine” and then people making shitty comments asking when their bubble is going to burst. Weird vibes all around

i think the bubble conversation is interesting when posited as "this is the most acclaim a band has gotten off a multi-album run in a while, I wonder how long it will last" vs. "when will this bubble burst already!" stuff

people are allowed to say an album is fine and not like it. it happens for literally every band on the internet. obviously critiques should be deeper than that and actually engage with the album, but this is also the era of people saying the album review is dead, and you can't have both
