Man these first few tracks are awesome.

 

Really enjoyed these. I haven't spent that much time with Pony so I think I need to revisit that later.

I remember Pony but I don’t think I ever got around to listening to it. I’m really digging the first couple tracks from this. Especially “Daytona Sand”. I’m a huge fan of Jay Joyce though, his work with Eric Church is fantastic.

 

Wow this is a huge step up from Pony. Let Me Drown is a stunner.

 

in what world can’t he actually sing? there are some higher vocal runs he does here and there that really took me back when I listened, but even in his lower register… he’s still hitting notes lol and accurately so. whether you like his shtick or not (I do find myself wrestling with the pastiche of it all at times), if you’re straight-up claiming dude can’t sing… idk to me you have no business in music journalism/reviewing but whatever.

this album is good, I don’t remember if I had listened to Pony in full but def caught a couple songs here and there (though I don’t remember them much), I don’t know if it’s anything that will stick with me long-term but it’s certainly a good time.
