the sound sucked, venue is not made for a "rock" show, it's a dancehall/electronic music bar most often. Reverb on the vocals made it all sound really overproduced and got a lot better when the feedback got so bad she said to just turn it off

Getting ridiculously excited to see her tomorrow night. I watched her Audiotree session again for the 3rd or 4th time yesterday and both Rejoice and Go Home made me cry a little bit. She's such an inspiration to me and id love a chance to get to talk to her briefly, but just seeing her play will be incredible.

I just really love Sprained Ankle, everyone.

  7. i wonder if she'll start recording a new record soon. sprained ankle was recorded so long ago at this point that i bet she has a ton of new material to put out. i wish we were getting a new album for this fall/winter so we could all cry in the freezing cold every day... haha

I just got back from the show and it was something else. It was probably the quietest show I've ever attended, both in terms of her volume and the quiet respectfulness and politeness of the crowd. She remarked several times on how great of a crowd it was, and how attentive and polite everyone was being. She sounded absolutely phenomenal. Her live show is probably better than her recorded material, and thats saying a lot. She played two new songs (both of which sounded great), and did a really cool piano rendition of Good News that gave me chills. I definitely got choked up during Go Home and barely subverted bursting into tears.

One of the coolest parts of the show was after she played her last song, she came out front and did a Q&A led by one of the lead staff members of the venue (the show was at a college). I actually had the opportunity to ask a question, which was kind of nervewracking as I was more than a little starstruck, but very rewarding. I wore a MewithoutYou shirt and as soon as I stood up she got excited and said "hey you have a MWY shirt on!" which made me geek out and smile like an idiot, haha. She was so thoughtful and eloquent in her answers to all of the questions. I would love to be able to spend a day with her and just pick her brain about anything.

It's late and I'm teetering on rambling territory, so I'll just conclude by saying that if any of you get an opportunity to catch her live, absolutely go for it. She puts on a moving show, and you'd be supporting a thoughtful, kind, humble individual.

Anyone need a ticket for the show in Providence on Friday? It's will call, but I have an extra one reserved. No charge, I just don't want it to go to waste.

Saw her last week at as an ACL pre show opener and it was phenomenal. First time seeing her with an electric guitar (saw her at SXSW at an acoustic house show).

The Elliott Smith tribute album, Say Yes!, came out yesterday, featuring Julien's cover of "Ballad of Big Nothing."
