I feel like the wording of Tony's tweet is confusing. "The big announcement for Wednesday’s Dynamite that we referenced on #AEWRampage (a free agent debut) and the person walking through the Forbidden Door are one and the same. They’re walking in the door, signing a contract, and then slamming the door shut Wednesday on #AEWDynamite!"

I thought Forbidden Door has always referred to someone currently working for another company, so guys like Keith Lee, Jeff Hardy, and even Cody don't apply there. But at the same time, how could a guy who is wrestling elsewhere (Jay White?) sign a contract with AEW tonight? Unless my understanding of Forbidden Door isn't accurate, in which case ignore all of this, haha.

And like, Vince likes money. You gotta imagine there is price Tony could've paid to buy out the contract... right? It won't actually in reality be him showing up on AEW while signed to WWE. But they can sell it that way.

The fact he clarified things immediately and attempted to redefine what forbidden door actually means would suggest it's not going to fall within the bounds of what we'd previously understood. My assumption, if it's Hardy, is that he was going to spin the non compete clause as Hardy still being under contract with WWE. Or maybe Tony threw a little bit of money at WWE just to waive the rest of the release clause, thereby doing business with them.

 

In my mind, TK already brought in Nick Gage. I don't know how he can possibly surprise me more unless it's Okada.

I was definitely a Jeff Hardy mark back in the day, but I'm kinda over him at this point and feel like his age and the wear and tear on his body is what's held him back for the last few years - not WWE style and storytelling (and no shame in that either). All that to say, I'll be pretty disappointed if that's a surprise debut tonight. There are a whole host of others I'd prefer either because they could benefit from the AEW platform, or I don't get the opportunities to see their work elsewhere.

 

Not a chance. Whenever Jeff shows up, his entrance music will be something pretty shitty that he wrote himself

 

If I'm being truly honest, I'll be fine with whoever it is except if it's Killer Kross.
