Claudio took part in a one off supergroup cover of Rush if I remember correctly.

Claudio absolutely freaked on that. It seems like he really tried to downplay the Rush comparison early in their career, even seemed annoyed by it. It was so cool to him fully embrace it there.

 

The story behind why Claudio hated the Rush comparison at first is hilarious. He was originally in a band and they wanted him to be a drummer and asked him if he could play Rush, he said sure, proceeded to listen to Rush and realized he couldn’t play what Peart did lol he said it haunted him after that

 

2113 was at least a Rush homage

Now I want to hear Claudio vocals on Fly By Night

 

That one has me hyped. This record is gonna be catchyyy

 

Honestly gives me TCBTS vibes which I wasn’t expecting

 

Unheavenly creatures is one of the catchiest records in their discography low key. The title track, toys, and love protocol are all career high hooks

 

Old Flames one of the catchiest songs they’ve ever written

 

Cannot imagine how many cymbals Josh breaks with how hard he hits and how he sets them up lol

 

As a drummer of 25 years, I do not understand his ride positioning one bit. Josh from Story of the Year does the same thing. You’re asking to crack your cymbals!

 

I’ve been playing for ten years now and I tried lower my cymbals on their stands and tilting them up like Josh does with his crash ride and like I’ve seen Dave from Pianos Become The Teeth do and I broke my cymbals within a couple months. Not to mention how choked Josh has his crash ride! That thing takes a massive beating lol

I’m sure he’s endorsed so it’s not like it really matters to him. He’s still one of my favorite drummers, but I watch him play and I can’t help but cringe sometimes. Dude’s wild, but I love his energy and his creativity on the kit so it’s all good

 

I wish he released more proper acoustic recordings. Reminds me of when he released that video of him singing Atlas in his living room.
