listen man I get it, I’m not immune to the “let people enjoy things” attitude myself even! (that said, it still blows and when I do it I should be rightly called out) but my god, we’re talking about a band of washed up musicians who weren’t even that good at their peak, let alone in the year 2022 when their core fan base consists of…I don’t even fucking know man who actually goes to bat for this band in the modern era? I’m losing my mind trying to comprehend being so upset with the negative response to such an obviously mediocre song I would genuinely love to know what redeeming qualities this person is hearing lol

even the biggest frusciante fan who was so excited to hear he was back has to be wildly disappointed with his playing on this

 

to be fair it is the only part of this that doesn’t absolutely fucking blow but it sounds like the same boring licks he was doing in this band two decades ago so I can’t imagine it’s even remotely artistically fulfilling for the man, who I do massively respect as a guitarist

 

it sounds like a riff someone who learned how to play guitar playing frusciante riffs more than anything frusciante would actually do imo. frusciante karaoke.

 

The company I work for has credits on this through Ryan Hewitt. We built some of the stuff he used to mix this. Pretty cool knowing that. We also build for a lot of others, but this may be the biggest release we’ve been a part of.

 

The majority of this thread is people shitting on the song, band, vocals, etc. before these last several posts so I don’t understand this bizarre discourse

I don't "like" RCHP, but I've always found it funny that the song that maybe best embodies all of their qualities was relegated to soundtrack status:
