There’s reports that it was originally supposed to be Brazil, but plans may have changed. That and Glover/Jiri make for a great card already.

  2. Usman said he wanted to go up to 205 and challenge Jan before he lost lol, would’ve been wild to see

Anik put $500 on the Falcons when they were up 28-0 on the Pats purely to jinx them. What a fucking mad man.

That was a great win for Bader last night and was a really tough one for him, obviously. I don’t disagree with the scoring if the fight but I’m more (pleasantly) surprised it went that way. It’s taken a while but I’m glad we’re sort of getting away from the days where a single takedown with 0 strikes or sub attempts or pressing someone against the cage will win you the round.

I still think Bader is a top 5 heavyweight in the world. Fight me.

It seems like for whatever reason, he thinks Volk is an easier matchup and doesn't seem to want much to do with Yan. Regardless, it appears as though he thinks this is a good time to try getting a third belt lol. I hope it all pans out for him.

I’m looking to find a gym in the city I just moved to. I have found some good MMA gyms nearby but will visit each one for a vibe check. It will be my first time diving into Muay Thai so I’m slightly nervous.

Any tips on what I should look out for when deciding on a school/gym? I was told to ask when I can start fighting. If the coach doesn’t seem hesitant until I actually have skills then that’s a big red flag.

  18. Check the head instructors accolades, see if you can find out their history. You’d be surprised how much info you can find on coaches (even if they’re not some renown martial artist). Make sure you get a feel for the people that train there since you don’t wanna roll around or strike with mostly dick heads

Definitely take a trail class to get a vibe of the place. Take them at multiple places if you want, don't be pressured into signing up the first day. I personally prefer upfront pricing, but a lot of gyms will want to get you in the door before telling you the price.

How clean is the gym? I've been training for years at this point and have had my fair share of skin issues. Are they wiping down the mats, is there a shower, etc.

I wouldn't even bring up wanting to fight, even if it's some sort of trick question. Tell the coach you have no experience and they'll pair you correctly, tell your partners you have no experience and ask them to go easy on you.

In sparring, give as hard as you want to receive. Sparring should be light. Communicate with your partner if they're going too hard. Be self-aware and relax, don't be throwing full force.

Prepare to look and feel dumb. It's hard to pick up, even if you're athletic. Be patient with yourself. This applies to holding pads as well.

Really though, it should be fun. Maybe it's not for you, maybe the gym isn't the right fit, but if you don't enjoy it there's no obligation to continue.

Agreed. It’s just a bore to watch at times. It looks like that will start happening the middle of next month. They have two fight nights in Columbus and London in March.
